When I used to do commercial roofing I worked with some white guys from the work release center. Roofing in Florida in the summer is about the worst job imaginable but that was some great life experience for 19-20 year old me.

Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Unfortunately, my aunt and uncle and one of their kids fall into this category! Wofford for the uncle(business), Lenoir-Rhyne for the aunt(nursing) and Furman(some worthless degree that wasted, God only knows, how much money) for the cousin. Some of the greatest people and Christians I've ever known...But their politics are absolute bat-shit crazy! Politics have, unfortunately, driven us apart. Add in the Wuhan willies and there's not much left because we don't take it seriously enough. Mind you, these people wear masks/long clothing/gloves and the aunt/uncle are the only people who have gotten it

I'm currently in Oxford and will be in Columbia tomorrow. Brought my girl down to visit the campus. She's deciding between ol miss, SC and Kentucky. She's in at Dayton (too close for her liking. Fair point. 6 blocks away is not her idea of going away to school) and Ohio State, which she never had any intention of attending. Just wanted to see if she could get in.
I drove to Dallas and back almost 2 weeks ago and will be driving to Florida in 3 weeks.
I LOVE to drive. I love to get lost on backroads and see where I end up. And I don't sleep for shit.

I seriously can't explain how genuinely nice this 'kid' is. I just love him and am so happy for him. He has worked and worked and worked. He's earned everything.
I like his mom. She raised those boys right and is the nicest, no bullshit person in the world. I like his bratty little brother. (He's not really bratty. It's just fun to watch the boys together. They're typical brothers).

I've got a lot more to go to catch up with you. I would have had a lot more checked off the list if it weren't for a falling out with a former best friend. One of my childhood friends took off out west a couple years out of HS to start a grow operation in the Chico, CA area and ended up doing pretty well from it. We made plans to go there and I planned an itinerary(I'm very OCD and part of that comes out when planning trips) and I was going to get an incredibly large chunk of the country with that. We had a falling out, I got engaged then married and started a family so the traveling has been put on hold for a little while. As it stands I have MS, AL, GA, FL, SC, NC, TN, KY, VA, District of Cesspool, MD, MA, CT down. Been to Jamaica on missions trips and the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon. That one was quite the adventure!
