Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Thirty years ago or so I played and coached softball in Tampa. Many of the guys I played with and against were construction workers and some were contractors. So many jobs and businesses were lost to to illegals and no politicians on either side gave a shit. I will add that many of them were Nam vets who deserved better. This is not something new and I think most of DC wants to keep it going.
Mexican crew showed up at 7am, tore the old roof off, put the new roof down and cleaned up, gone by lunch to do another job.

Hispanics, even most illegals, want to work and are hard workers. They will go where the jobs are, want to be productive and own their own houses and businesses. I have several clients who own warehouses. It's rare to see anyone other than Latinos working in them.

Just read up on this. I think it only applies if you didn’t get a Covid check based on you 2018 or 2019 income, but do based on 2020 earnings. If you didn’t get a check because your income is too high, you can’t claim the credit. Am I missing something?

I’ll ask my accountant tomorrow. I didn’t get any stimulus and don’t qualify for the third, and was able to claim the credit per my return. I haven’t really looked into it as I just noticed it yesterday while I was reviewing it.

I sent him a text and he said - you get the credit if your 2020 income fell within the thresholds of the 2 prior stimulus - so if you made less than 200k in 2020 then you get the credit.(or a portion of it based on 2020 AGI. Obviously if you made over that amount then you get no credit. So making less in 2020 (which we did this year ) let us get a credit back. If you are still making over the threshold in 2020 you get zilch.
