A Los Angeles man who police say intentionally drove his car into multiple people and other vehicles in Downtown Long Beach Saturday night has been arrested on suspicion of murder, according to authorities.
Khalid Yagobbi, 46, was taken into custody in connection with the crash that left 60-year-old Long Beach resident Romelia Aguilar dead, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Shoreline Drive and Aquarium Way, authorities said. Witnesses described a car running a red light and then crashing into a woman pushing a child in a stroller, and then into vehicles in the opposite lane.
Yagobbi, according to police, was driving a Chevrolet Bolt eastbound in the westbound lanes of Shoreline Drive near Aquarium Way at a high rate of speed when he drove through a red light and struck multiple vehicles and pedestrians in the crosswalk.
When officers arrived at the scene, they rendered aid to Aguilar until Long Beach Fire personnel took over and pronounced her dead, according to the LBPD.
At least five other people were transported to a local hospital in stable condition and one other was treated at the scene, according to authorities.
Police said the FBI also responded to the crash and assisted with the investigation because of suspicious circumstances and the current conflict in the Middle East, but the LBPD said there is no indication that the crash was “an act of terror nor associated with the current violence in Israel.”

“This is not about whether I like the language Mr. Trump uses,” Judge Tanya Chutkan said. “This is about language that presents a danger to the administration of justice.”
“His presidential candidacy does not give him carte blanche to vilify public servants who are simply doing their jobs,” the judge added.
During the hearing, Chutkan took issue with Lauro saying “what you have put in place is working,” regarding Trump’s release conditions. The judge laughed loudly in response to Lauro’s statement, and told the attorney to stop making political arguments in her courtroom.
Arguments put forth by Lauro have prompted Chutkan to cut him off several times, as he argues Trump should not be restricted on what he can say while campaigning for president.
Lauro at one point accused the special counsel’s office, through the proposed gag order, of trying “to prevent President Trump from speaking out about the issues of the day.”
But Chutkan made clear that she wouldn’t tolerate such rhetoric in her courtroom.
“Politics stops at this courtroom door,” she said.
Chutkan also reminded Lauro that Trump is a criminal defendant, with restrictions on him that he can’t intimidate witnesses or jurors while awaiting trial, while Joe Biden is not.

We didn’t have this luxury for the first year of Ukraine.
How would the narrative differ? What would have been classified as “disinformation”? How would public perception differ?
The public just had a serious intellectual discourse, the likes of which I’m not sure has ever occurred in human history. Narratives were pitted against each other, on a global scale, and the pursuit of truth led to some wild yet fascinating debate and perspective.
This was the first time that a war broke out, and the public were truly free to give their opinions on social media and allow the market to decide what is going on, as opposed to blindly believing what the anchorman on the television said.
I don’t think we know it yet, but this might go down as a turning point in human civilization. Governments undoubtedly base their decisions on public opinion, and with a free marketplace of ideas, we just might be able to make a difference, even it it is minimal.
One thing is for certain, we are moving the needle. The People are becoming more powerful. We are leveling up.
And we couldn’t have done it without Elon.
