Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

The Robinhood situation is not something you can reference here because Bitcoin and those wallets don’t have a central platform, let alone something like Bitcoin that doesn’t even need the grid to have coin on a wallet(Trezor for example if you have a 24 word key you can recreate your wallet to a different wallet and you can memorize it so the grid wouldn’t stop it)
Your stronger argument was to keep pushing that the government would just eliminate as many exchanges as possible and make it harder to use thus plummeting the value because thats actually possible, but it’s not a lay up for even that to work. India still can’t close the deal and they had a bill on the floor to do it since 2017. In this day and age there’s no incentive that would outweigh the cost of driving out the capital from that market and it’s gonna continue to go that direction

Same exact path I took including the planning on law school and skipping it bit. Kids a year older than me from high school who were enrolled in law school advised me not to do it because lawyers were assholes. Probably some of the best advice I ever received.

My daughter got a scholarship to go to Mercer Law School in Macon. After the first semester she switched to Education (now a teacher in Atlanta) because, "All the Law professors were slimy".
So, lawyers get that way because of law school or are attracted to law school because it's a "birds of a feather' place?
I wasn't being clear. I simply meant the will force the platforms hands like they did with Robinhood.
They're not trying to set the capital on fire.
They're gonna fine or force the exchanges to only allow trades into their desired crypto or into dollars.
They want people to continue to pump cryptos so they're capital is 'locked in' so to speak. The drop in usefulness and tradability will start the crash to precipitate the desire for most people to move.
All IMO of course.

Odd. I'm fairly certain the pilots are the ones who decide what their callsign will be when they file their flight plan with ATC. Usually a no brainer and they stick to the agreed upon structure of the squadron or airline SOP. Just as AF1 would be a no brainer.
Why would the pilots file N/A ?
- Don't recognize Biden as POTUS ?
- Some über-security measure ?

Only watched first 5 minutes but MW says that every time Biden has flown the call sign is not AF1 but N/A. Camel Ah has been flying on a 737 (also unusual) but has AF2 call sign.
Update: Pilot friend just txt me back that The Military has been doing that for a while now. All POTUS flights have a call sign the FAA recognizes but it can't tracked by that app that MW uses.
On purpose for increased security.

Edit: She was just undergrad - not in Law school yet so switched from "Liberal Arts" to Education because, well, Libs. Also switched knowing she could get a Law degree someday with an undergrad Education Degree but always have a job.
The Education Department at Mercer is highly respected and she flourished there. Got her a master's spot at Peabody School of Ed at Vanderbilt.

Agreed. Yesterday when I was in line at the grocery store I've been going to for 15 years, a checker friend of mine saw me third in line and asked how I was doing. I responded loudly so everyone could hear, "oh, just watching the world burn while nobody seems to notice or care". Guy in front of me in line turned and asked if that was a generalization or related to something specific. I said, "a little of both, but just last night we fired up the war machine again and killed 22 brown people 7,000 miles away from here with no explanation as to why and the media and left don't seem to mind". It made everyone uncomfortable except for my checker friend who fist bumped me when I got to first in line while he checked me out.
When I left, there was a woman loading her car with groceries with Biden/Harris stickers plastered all over her car. I stopped and rolled my window down and asked for her thoughts on killing 22 brown people last night 7,000 miles away from home and entering useless and endless wars again. She responded that she had no idea what I was talking about. Told her she needs to wake up and start paying more attention that her dementia ridden leader is putting our country last again.
It made me feel a little bit of relief from the anxiety of the past 37 days. I want to start publicly challenging Biden supporters to state why they support the America last policies we have flipped to basically overnight. Should be entertaining given the volume of useful idiots I am surrounded by here.
TL/DR- fuck Biden supporters.
Agree with all of this and we will see what methods they use to squeeze it, specifically if you buy coin through a platform like Coinbase or something which again has access to your keys and would have the possibility of getting wiped. They’re RIPE for the Type of pressure you’ve been talking about so if we spoke to a crypto enthusiast who had everything through Coinbase we’d probably say a lot of the same things
And just to take a step back from all of this, they would need several groundbreaking innovations to make any kind of banning or seizure of it effective and having worked in IT in public sector before they aren’t on that kind of cycle or have that level of competency, at least not right now. US gov and the populace for that matter are still in bitcoin and crypto education phase so while I think they would already be able to just force down a ban, they don’t have the technology or the political unity (not that they aren’t all corporate Dems at the end of the day, but you would have to argue between corporate Dems because different people that bribe them have stakes in bitcoin) to enforce something given all the design considerations. Bitcoin has also been used illegally for a long time so it has a track record of ducking regulation
