I'm still at a loss for the lack of outrage regarding Cuomo. Unbelievable that this could happen in the modern era.

Inevitably he will get charged with something and the civil suits vs NY will roll in. At first I had my doubts and thought the media would protect him. Seems clear now that even they know he's on thin ice. See Jake Tapper's tweets ITT.

What happens after that? Biden will "bail out" the State of NY. We've seen the writing on the wall with this since Rona came about. Roundabout way to get lib cities funding (aka cleaning up the damn mess they created). What a world

The Project Engineer doesn't make decisions for the subcontractors though- that's the point. The owner gets an Architect and Engineer to design and draw plans. Those 2 then solicit bids from General Contractors, who in turn solicit bids from subcontractors.

As a sub, when we make a bid, we do so according to the plans and specs and costs of materials and labor, since we are buying the materials and labor. I would dog cuss an engineer who told me that I didn't know the costs of my own materials.

ETA: just read your later posts- are you an electrical sub or an EE? Or both?
Unless it’s totally egregious material costs which does happen. I’ve seen change orders that were so ridiculous that the owner said there must be some typos in this and if I see that number again you can pack your stuff and go find another county to work in. In this case the change order went from $300k to $150k overnight all with revised material costs.

The better arguments are why it should have been covered in your bid and why does the GC have so much time included? Unless the owner is making changes after the fact, In which case charge whatever you can and leave me alone next time there is some minor change.

I’ve got this one project where the electrician is the general contractor. There was a $50k utility allowance which Ended up not being used. Their PM just can’t help himself, he wants that money in his contract. Every time anything comes up he cries change order. So far his change orders have turned into him losing about 10% of his contract value. I work with this company all the time and wouldn’t have called them on most of this stuff, but he keeps bringing up change orders that I then have to show why it’s a deduct. None of this involved any comments on material costs or labor hours. It was all quantities and linear feet. You know they are reaching when they say “well I didn’t bid it that way.” Sorry, the plans show what they show.

usually it’s just best to include qualifications that get you competent contractors then just work together to find the best solution when issues arise. And if you are a sub, don’t bid on something you don’t understand fully.

So Fox and even NewsMax are focusing on the ole, "cover-up always worse than the crime" thing, which, although true is not the optic drum that MUST be beat IMO.

He sent the Covid Elderly back to the nursing homes thinking the hospitals would get overwhelmed - all the while purposefully NOT sending them to the Javits Center or the USS Comfort - both of which never even made it to 10% capacity before being dismantled/sent home. He did this so that Trump could not look good. All but admitted it once.

So the question becomes did he decide this on his own or was he told ?

THAT, my LAC friends is the real story here.

Biden is the red pill
Agree 100%

Intentional bungling is the best explanation

Just watch patski, she tanks it everyday. She's not exactly a rhetorical powerhouse left to her own devices but coerced/conscious self destruction best explains her and the absurd admin at large

From a cynical perspective, this could be the humiliation phase of the marxist operation where the elites are so untouchable and entrenched that they don't even have to pretend the politicians give a zero fuck about their people, let alone capable of serving their interest.

In my view, The opposing head coach is calling their plays and they have to run them

I will say a major question I have is, suppose the so called white hats have intel on Corona, Cuomo, the numbers, the killing, pedos, etc; they can't just come out and release it and say we've had this the whole time, we had to let them do it, so you could see the truth

Hasty generalization in first sentence.

And this is for the group - Degreed engineers continue to be marginalized in the court of public opinion and this will never change until there is a uniform “board” for the common practicing engineer (not talking about Professional Engineering license).

Ive seen it a lot in my 20 year career as an electrical engineer. Now I manage about 60 engineers through subordinate supervisors and am not even technical at this point in my career.

I continue to see engineer dick envy in many circles, though, and I’ve always wondered why it’s so prevalent. Some engineers are assholes, I get it. But, if you haven’t experienced and successfully completed an undergraduate engineering degree, then I could postulate there is more to at least try to understand from the perspective of the engineer. (Engineering grad degree programs are typically cake walks compared to undergrad).

One of my guesses is there seems to be very profound occurrence of people calling themselves “engineers” when in reality they are not degreed as such... MDs have the medical boards, lawyers have the bar, CPA’s have the exam, etc... All of those items, respectively, are required for those professions to operate at the lowest common denominator level... Professional Engineering licenses are not required for engineers...

In any regard, I wished something similar was required for engineers to practice at lower levels. I think that would help the “prestige” of engineering...

In my experience, the most asshole-ish, know-it-all “engineers” weren’t in fact degreed engineers at all... They just had that title. Literally just calling themselves an “engineer”.

When is the last time anyone hired a “lawyer” that neither had a law degree nor passed the bar?

My 0.02, FWIW...
So agree with you regarding people who call themselves engineers but aren’t degreed. My cousin is one of them. I don’t know where he went to school but he doesn’t have a bachelor’s degree but tosses around his “engineer” title all the time. Maybe he has an engineering technology degree? Idk. Drives me crazy. My husband is an actual engineer, chemical. My dad was an electrical engineer. I understand the hard work and complexity of receiving one of those degrees. Doesn’t help that my cousin is an arrogant liberal asshole as well though.

Interesting summary by Lin...not feeling very optimistic. If the SCOTUS refuses to take it up, it’s up to the military. Even if they take it up, it may be just for show and this shit drags on.

There is a 0% chance the SC saves the day

Bothers me as well. My husband went to school at night at The Citadel and worked full time during the day. He definitely earned his EE degree. Not sure how much engineering he does since he works at a steel mill, but it’s an accomplishment none the less.

You could have just said that we are in the Willie Taggart phase of national politics.

He's polling at a positive 60% in NY. Thanks NYC, all you enlightened, smarter than everyone else dipshits
