Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

This dude can articulate his position and sell it. Why I never cared for Trump throughout his public life, I never bought what he was selling. The more I hear RD speak, the more I hope Trump retreats to the shadows in 2024 and RD is the pick. Same thinking - would be much more effective IMO

Could not stand him prior to being President. Appreciate it or not, that's just how I always felt. And while he did plenty of good things and withstood an attack very few could have endured - he came up empty with draining the swamp and made some questionable hiring and lack of firing decisions. Guess if I still believed it was all a plan and said plan was not completed yet, then I'd feel differently. Standard disclaimer, hope I'm wrong.

75M votes is A LOT of buying. More buying than any president in history.
I explained this in the pub thread but you can't not run Trump. Even losing 3-5% of his vote totals would be deviating especially if we are planning to go head to head with 81M ballots.
Ron Desantis isn't getting 75M votes or anywhere close. Nobody in the GOP could ever dream to come close to that besides Ivanka after her dad provides her the legitimacy of his second term.
Trump voters will not vote in the same way for anyone not a Trump. Getting 93-95% of the 75M wouldn't cut it and 45 is more popular now after the 6th than before.
Let these states and many others reform the voting process, take away the plandemic and mass mail ins, and let the IE blow up the Dims and the radical left then take back what's ours.
House likely goes red in two years anyways and maybe even the Senate with the current trajectory so the hot takes of a 'rebuild' is the opposite of reality.
The GOP is the party of Trump. People need to realize it is already being remade in his imagine. There is zero going back to smooth talkers that are already politicians (like Ron or Kansas).

During his presidency? I bought into most everything. But half the country still saw him as the clown I once considered him to be. You can say that would have been the case regardless but again I will make the same original point DeSantis can better articulate the issues, which is half the battle.
We will see how this impeachment trial goes and whether or not there are some bombshell surprises that put egg on my face. But as of today he knew there would be an unprecedented amount of cheating and all the talk of traps and having everything thus far has not come to fruition. In other words we had an opportunity to open up the worlds eyes to the corruption through the election. And if you believe Burns and others they were a complete and total cluster fuck.

Trump picked up 12M votes. He articulates the issues just fine. His simplistic messaging is MUCH more effective than someone like Desantis who comes across as a lawyer elite type.
This goes to the Sowell stuff I was saying earlier; people don't get excited about that sorta thing.
We've had smooth talkers for generations and they just end up swamp creatures like the smooth talkers before them. A wrecking ball is what's needed and trying to run a Desantis, Pence, Kansas smooth talker WILL turn people off.
You gotta remember you're gonna vote red no matter what but that the average citizen (the 12M new votes) want someone they can trust and who UNAPOLOGETICALLY fights for them.
The smooth talkers are better positioned in SOS roles or VP where they can smooth out the message on the back end. The face of the party needs to be BOLD or we're going back to 63Mish votes and getting raw dogged for decades.

No he didn't. The IE didn't beat anyone. They cheated to pull him through the primaries and then cheated in a different and MUCH more sophisticated capacity in the general. That's a loser's mentality to legitimize their cheating by declaring it real in ANY way.
