• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Fuel prices will be going higher...

"Many years have passed since the last large greenfield refinery was built in the continental United States. It has been 43 years, in fact, since Marathon Petroleum opened its spanking-new 200,000 barrel of oil per day (bopd) refinery in Garyville, Louisiana in 1977.

Since that time, growing environmental restrictions have made obtaining permits for new refining operations from state and federal government agencies increasingly difficult and costly. The inevitable raft of litigation that follows the issuance of any permits also increases the costs and adds to time delays. Many such projects have tried to get off the ground during those intervening 43 years, but the planners of them have all ended up losing what has become a strategic war of attrition."

You can disagree but it's not true. All it does it kick the decision back to the states. Just like slavery
Exactly, I never said otherwise. Abortion will be completely illegal in several states the day SCOTUS rules.

With Roe in place, abortion was a RIGHT. As soon as it falls, the battle for minds kicks into high gear. With the issue being a legislative one, the idea that abortion is a right is dead. It isn't a women's health or bodily autonomy issue either because a fetus is a wholly separate human being with its own DNA.

This is a Huge victory, but it's the beginning, not the end.

Exactly.

Alito's commentary also takes a huge dump on the federal governments over-reach and pushing rights back to the states and local representation.

From a purely political perspective, that is the major point.

From a spiritual perspective, this gives us a chance at Revival rather than judgment.
