Youre lost pal. Stick with the Bible and omit Jesus Preaching of hope and prosperity. Stick to the Fire and Brimstone and sin. That usually wins souls. Lol practice what you preach, Homie
What wins souls is the preaching of the word combined with the convicting power and call of the Holy Spirit...you are the one who is suggesting limiting the teaching of Jesus. I do try to practice what I preach. Following the false teachings of a man is not something that I will do. You can prop up the teachings of Joel Osteen if you want, but I’d be really careful about that if I were you.

Perhaps I get the wrong impressions from him, as I have to think a bit more on why people get so much hate in the media. First off, I think anything pro-Christian gets a bad slant from the media to begin with. While he spreads the good word, his actions just make me question him. First off.....he's clearly doing very well financially for a preacher, which juxtaposes with my understanding that Jesus wanted us to live humbly and serve the needy. Again, maybe I just have it wrong. Not opening his church as a safe place during Hurricane Harvey was a bad look for him. Again, I question anything the media gets riled up about.

And then Hugh Freeze loves him, and I definitely know how fake that dude is.
Win Souls is the main thing outside of loving Jesus. Joel has made his services very "seeker Friendly", which is tough for Baptist preachers and others to take. He has made it to where his services is for the lost souls to come with opportunity to be saved for Christ. Not to be condemned for your sin. his sunday services are very structured and short and to the point. Church isnt just a sunday service where the preacher/pastor tells you how you should live and bla bla bla. Church is a family where all thigs of Christ flow though. Every response and all the people attaching Joel are making Church and sunday service all about the pastors message on Sunday. Church is your family and a community of life and doing life together. the sunday messages are a tiny part of that. Its like saying the only version of the bible you can read in the King James. Not really but for most churches theres sunday church and the preachers talks for an Hour then you go home with a littl e more here and there. Joels church are so much more involved with each others lives. Through grups and community dealings. most of the feeding on the word is done through groups and smaller settings after somebody has felt comfortable. Imagine a sinful person that is so ashamed of their life style for whatever reason walking in to a sunday services where the Baptist pastor is crushing sinful people and shaming them. or just going on and on and on. Chances are they will be shamed away. and no chance to get involved. Joel sets an atmosphere for the lost and sinful to feel welcomed and loved etc. then they want to get involved and be part and seek Christ themselves. Most are living on the Snday message like thats what God wants. ITs the opposite of what he wants. He wants us to seek Him with all of our heart mid and soul and when we do we find Him. He wants us to be prosperous. You think Jesus was sent for us to be poor? you can attach any scripture to make it sound anything you want. Its 100% ok for a Man of God to be RICH!! Its silly to think otherwise. A son or daughter of the most high not be RICH and not be known it to be is silly. Living humble is completely different. Humble spirit. Joel is a very Humble loving person that lives for Jesus. Im not proof reading what I posted so sorry. Church is at all based on what is said in the pulpit. That is just a piece of it. Sundays are to reach the lost not the saved. He reaches the lost and gives them opportunity to WANT to be saved and involved.

False teaching as in? You live for sundays and what your pastor/preacher says drabbing on for an hour. Correct? Wonder what Jesus said to Mary M? You are a sinner and you should repent from your sins and you are bad. Bla bla bla. Nope He loved her showed her grace and told her about the goodness then said sin no more. Spent less time on the "sin" then anything else. Flase Teaching lol. weak

Lol He says it there we want to reach the mainstream the church has already been reached. lol You people hold on to the Pulpit without an understanding of how God works. Lol there is nothing to disagree with. What is church supposed to be for? You are missing the boat. Yea he is leading people to Christ by the thousands and wont be in heaven. Do you go to church on Sunday and attend service and "Sunday school"? Thats the extent of your walk. What Joel and his church do far far exceeds anything you can fathom what a "church" or what you even comprehend a "church" really is. Imo you are a sheep and the problem with Jesus message. You should have a relationship with Christ on your own. Not based on what somebody else says it should be like. Im saying that based on your response. Most of Jesus messages were similar to Joels

McConnell is such a bitch. Pretty much rolled over on the filibuster by taking dems at their word.

Should've fought to retain committees since senate is 50/50
I’m going to let this negotiation play out a bit longer. I think McConnell knows Schumer doesn’t have enough votes to kill the filibuster. Manchin and Sinema have flatly stated they won’t vote for it.

I appreciate the feedback. Like I said, I'm very hesitant to trust people these days for one reason or another. I believe God wants us to be prosperous in many ways. Certainly enough to live very comfortably and being able to contribute to the needy/just causes. There are many riches in life beyond money, however.

I agree that certain denominations have failed miserably in the goal of growing the Church and saving souls, by preaching a message of punishment and shame. Baptists especially, as you stated. I was raised in a United Methodist church, and the main message from that denomination that I carry with me every day is that God loves you (me) more than you could ever imagine, and He is always patiently waiting for us to come to Him. Wife was raised Baptist, and has reservations about ever going back to church again......even though I keep saying we should find a church to attend.

In the meantime, I just try to keep up a personal relationship with God by praying, and generally speaking to Him in all situations. Not just when things are troubling in life, but when things are going well. When things are sort of dull. I need to read the Bible more. Not sure which version or whatever, but I think there are solid lessons in each.

Am I doing this correctly?

What does Joel and his church do?
Sundays are for lost to come and feel the love. Here a message of love and not condemn. Then they have an opportunity to get connected based on their own speed. Connected to a leader and talk about whatever the person needs. Possible directed to a group of some sort. connect with others and become part of the the church then usually on to a serve team. The outreach and community involvement. People lthink Church is a sunday message. Even if they say they know its more they dont expect more. The sunday message people see Joel give is 1/10th of it. Look at their website and see. Church is you family and community. your walk is supposed to be your entire life. What joel and other churches are exactly what the bible described. The message is a tiny part. Another great example is a church in alabama Church of the highlands. Great example of what "church" is supposed to be, Church should be Monday through Sunday with a Sunday celebration and message. They make it to where, when you leve its not over there is involvement each and every day. Not just sunday. They live Church

Its tough when youre on your own. Where do you live?

IMO all ways have a place. I think you should find a church that gives you the opportunity to be involved everyday. Nothing like hearing a great message on Sunday then leaving the building to go back to everyday life and not have an opportunity to be connected through out the week.
it has to be a lifstyle, and living it like you say you are is tough. Almost impossible. God doesnt intend a relationship to be impossible. Its hard enough. Go to a church that lifts you up and supports you. Dont be sin conscious. I have that problem. Try not to sin but focus your love on Christ. Changes everything. Like when you got married. Did you focus on not cheating or hurting your wife, or did you focus on not doing single guy things anymore. Or did you just love and focus on loving your wife? You enjoyed and loved her which made you not want to cheat or live as single person. Thats an exact example of Gods love and how it works. Read the bible daly doing a devotion. Im probably worse off then you btw

Seems you implicate things that you don’t know. In my own life, as a baseball coach, I’ve been criticized by many In the church for not attending Sunday services during the season...going to tournaments with the kids that I coach. I have always felt that my calling and ministry was to lead and witness to those kids I coach and their parents through my teaching, my witness, and my life. I’ve organized Sunday devotionals and tried to live my witness in front of those people...trying to teach life lessons as well as pass on my knowledge of the game. My witness is not based on what man says, but in the scriptures. I do not teach that baseball players are going to be better players because of their belief in Jesus. I do teach that they will be better men, husbands, and fathers, going forward if they follow the teachings of Christ...and that their reward is in heavenly things and not the things of the earth. We try to win, based on our work in practice...and that you can’t make withdrawals on game days if you don’t make the deposits in practice. With Jesus, the deposit has already been made...and while the requirement of belief and the turning away from sin and submission to his word does not guarantee success on earth, it’s eternal significance and promise is the guarantee that all of us should be seeking first.

Thanks for trolling the shit out of everyone with JO the wolf in sheep’s clothing

Last time im responding to these attacks. You know nothing and if you call yourself a Christian you should check yourself. If youre a man and making outlandish statements like this based on what you think without facts you should be ashamed. You know zero about him and probably less about the bible for you to speak like that. You should reevaluate.
You are a good dude and contributor, but we aren't judging Joel Osteen.

We are discerning.

The Prosperity Gospel he teaches is not Biblical. It completely ignores the reality of following Jesus and "take up your CROSS and follow me." It ignores all of Jesus' teaching to the Pharisees. Now that doesn't mean God won't use that in very powerful ways. Other shepherds who failed, including Swaggart, Baker, MacDonald, Noble, to Driscoll, are very flawed men who God used to lead people to Christ. Just as he did with Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Peter, and Paul.

Believers should expect and will be persecuted. God will bless that in ways we wont' understand. Suffering and persecution go hand-in-hand with being a Christian. Yes, small groups, fellowship, time in the Word are the bread, but a shepherd that is not preaching the entire Word of God is misleading his sheep. One might say, a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I believe Matthew 7:15 refers to that explicitly.

Last time I'm going to respond about this topic in this thread (perhaps a suggestion to start another thread so this one doesn't get derailed any further).

I'm in Mississippi. I feel like God brought my wife and I together at the perfect moments in our lives when both of us had gone through some extremely dark times (her: abusive ex; me: deaths of dad & brother within 6 months of each other). I've seen God speak to me in ways that He knew I would understand, even though I had abandoned everything about organized religion at that time in my life. But He knew I was seeking His glory the whole time, looking for something beyond the veil of my reality to confirm. He works in mysterious, amazing ways.

Lets get this thread back on track, friend. Nothing wrong with the conversation at all, but lets focus on what this thread was started for.

Only a few schools offer an Architectural Engineering degree. At KU (at least when I was there) the ARCE program was 1/2 architecture and 1/2 engineering classes for the first 2 years of the 5 year program. Then you pick an emphasis in one of Structural, Lighting/Electrical, or HVAC design — or the 4th option in Construction Management, which I did. By the time I graduated I had taken a class in the legal aspects of the construction industry that I loved and knew I would go to law school.
This is what my 14 yr old wants to do, but he is not going to Kansas, do you have any recommendations in the southeast for that type of degree?

@Croot_Overlord can you PLEASE move all this Joel Osteen convo into its own thread? For the love of all that is dear and holy. Thank you. Your humble servant.
Too some degree, I think its a good conversation to be had - maybe outside the scope of this thread though

It's clear that both the Catholic and Protestant arms of Christianity have been infiltrated in some fashion to sow division.

I found it odd when Netflix made that recent documentary targeting OSteen and some of the other Grace or "Prosperity" preachers - now I'm sure some of the preachers referenced have had wrong motives at times - but its almost like Netflix wanted to create more discord and confusion among Christians.

I am a big fan of Joseph Prince and he was targeted by Netflix as well.

"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the holy Spirit to them that ask Him?”

Edit: corrected my first sentence

I'm on my computer so this Telegram link doesn't work but I clicked the link and thought the error message was funny because it's true

I don’t, sorry. I haven’t tracked the major in schools for a long time. Some schools offer a “construction sciences” degree but you need to check closely to see if it is accredited as an actual engineering degree. Some are, some aren’t.
