• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

I’m still not sure it’s wired right. And by that, it may be misfired at the HVAC units, not the thermostat. Also, the temperature range settings on the Ecobee need to be set accurately and realistically for your weather conditions in your area this time of year. I have been getting aux source runtime warnings for the last several weeks because we have have lots of periods of really frigid temps and the gas system has had to run overtime. But that’s how it’s supposed to work when the weather is like this.

(so it's backwards? Cause the gas is supposed to be aux in our case, and everybody's case I guess?) its more practical to use natural gas that's your main heat source.. You'd always wanna use your furnace first it puts out the most BTUs that's the whole point.. the HP is sitting in the condensing unit outside and can just kick on and off when the your furnace needs a boost

(what is 2h/2c) it just a conventional digital tstat.. you can pick one up for like 50bucks..
Its normally what's installed with a HP system (a regular HP system your electric heat strips are in the air handler.. that's the main heat and the HP kicks on to relieve

(So basically get the idiot to get a brand new 5 and try again) Ahh fuck yeah...its clearly not installed correctly and i know how much those systems cost so they would be there rightnow working on it...and i wouldn't let that retard back in my house id have them send someone else

the ecobee connects to the wifi and sets the temperature for the thermostat that way and will make adjustments. So you literally have to have the internet for this thing to operate lol kinda crazy to think about

yeah he had retard install something he shouldn't of been.. so our guy is fucked

This whole package was sold to me as an energy/money saver in that the HP is more efficient. Also, the HP is mounted in the crawl space separate from the outside unit. Made sense to me since it blows air at about 90-95 degrees where as the gas auxiliary blows over 120. Thus the money/energy saving HP is primary and gas is auxiliary for colder temps, which is not a whole lot in AL. And yes, this disaster has cost me a small fortune to install and not much has gone right yet with it. Unfortunately the retard is the owner of the company. Nice guy and I still really do think he means well, he just can’t seem to get it right. Thanks for the continued replies, I really do appreciate the advice
