• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Do not underestimate Russia's willingness to fight. They broke Hitlers back, not us. They suffered 25M war dead to beat Hitler. America and all our allies less than 1M.

@PleasureMoose thot I had my issue resolved. Dude came back and replaced the Ecobee 5 with the 3. Worked great using the comfort settings and the schedule we set. My wife got cold this morning so she raised the temp manually on the app and ever since it has been blowing cold air while on heat. We also got a notification that the auxillary heat had been running with the outside temp above 50 even tho we have not used the aux heat at all since the new thermostat was installed (unless it kicked on by itself during the night due to colder temps) Thots, suggestions? This cannot be normal

The guy who keeps coming out there is a fucking idiot and he's wasting your time.. he doesn't know what he's doing and just tried ripping you off. The 3's are like $150 cheaper than the 5's and wont even work with your setup

why did he replace a brand new 5 with a discontinued Ecobee 3.. those are just for standard systems they don't have a humidistat built-in which is what you need to run hybrid heat.

So your heat is actually coming from your indoor gas your aux is the HP. when it gets cold say in the 10s or 20s the humidistat will auto switch over to your HP and balance out the humidity in the house and give your gas furnace a break.. its designed for max efficiency .. hybrid heat is the best setup on the HVAC market

But you cant just throw a regular 2h/2c thermostat on that system it'll never work right it has too much to communicate from the thermostat... Its has to be a wifi smart humidistat. The Ecobee 4 or 5... also a NEST will work and Honeywell makes there version too
