This has been my experience with a lot of appellate and higher judges. Clerked at a state COA and the chief judge would just say this is what I want it to be, so write an opinion that gets there.

Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

I agree people should have realized Cruz for what he is a long time ago
But we're all here now and let's move onto the next target
As I've said we are abandoning the gop away from a real path to victory
That requires an understanding that there is nothing left of our government worth preserving outside of it's founding documents

To answer your initial question: Yes, in the context of where/when he said it. He was expressing gratitude to the police who had to endure the anarchy. He expressed that with the use of a term he has used for 9 months in regards to attacking police. It is clear he was not referring to the general population of people at the Capitol as terrorists. Only those who attacked police officers. It has been now broadly swept over all of MAGA which is bullshit.

Definitely agree on first part. Not sure on 2nd. Can't see any real good from him backtracking. It would open the door for a full assault on all his supporters. They so badly want to tie anti-mandate to anti-vax, and both to dangerous right wingers and Trump. His stance makes that much more difficult, but they're trying anyway.

My real problem with Cruz’s statement was he played right into the narrative on a day when Patriots should’ve been as far away from it as possible. He certainly lost a ton of credibility with me when he joined their day of propaganda.

...and what is that? What major accomplishment has he had that is bringing down these evil people all around him in the Senate? It doesn’t take much for me to lose faith in any of these rich bastards who are supposed to be working for the people...If he didn’t know better than to fall in line with the narrative that was being put forth on that day, he’s not in touch with the base.
