• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

What does a replacement battery cost?
That isn't really determined yet since I don't think anyone has ever replaced one - except on a 2004 Roadster or something.

The guess is $8k - $10k, and 300k to 500k miles, or 1,500 battery cycles. We'll see when someone gets there. Musk claims that the body and drive will last for a million miles.

While battery replacement reports from owners of the Model S outside of warranty are few and far between, we have found a few cases where a full battery replacement visit has cost up to $20,000. That sounds pretty high, but the breakdown in price shows that the Model S battery itself costs somewhere in the realm of $12,000-$15,000.
Not really accurate. Having to replace a battery at this point means that something went awry with your car. When it becomes more commonplace, the guess is $8k - $10k to replace.

You have a map of these things or something? I’ve literally never seen a charging station.
They're parking spots. They look like this:
tesla-supercharging-station-from-left-model-s-model-3-model-x-and-model-y.jpg

They're usually close to an interstate and they're usually in a commercial center. It might be a grocery store parking lot, or a mall, or a hotel, or a shopping plaza. They try to put them near multiple options for things to do while it charges.

Here's a map:
Supercharger-Locations-Hero-Desktop-NA

It's hard to see where all of those are. You have to go to tesla.com/findus to see the locations and what type they are. There are 2 that are pretty close to me. But that's irrelevant. I'll never use those. Look for how many are 100-200 miles away from you.

Does Elon have his own personal 100% USA sourced oil field and petroleum plant? What do you think is necessary to build, say, that right fender? Where do the suppliers source? What do you think is used to build those plants to build those parts?

Now about those batteries and lithium mines….

Cobalt mines?

Here’s the thing. It’s good to strive be better and cleaner. But sometimes ‘better ‘ just factually isn’t.

That’s not to knock you or anybody for driving a Tesla. Seriously. Drive what you like and what makes sense for you.

I guess my quibble is with anybody saying otherwise to me and millions of others (you have not said anything of the sort)…. and the complete buffoon in an official position telling people who have to choose between paying for gas or food to just go buy an electric car.

At this point in time, they are not practical or obtainable, economically or otherwise, for the vast majority of the people. We’re, on the whole, just not there, yet. And we’re nowhere close to dealing with environmental impact disposal of the batteries renders. And that’s a fact.

(Same with the turbines)
Lithium from China (unfortunately). The Gigafactory doesn't use fossil fuels, though the construction of it could. Even still, that's far less than any other car on the market. And that's my point. No gas. No oil.

Again, the "green" thing doesn't matter to me until people really get on board with nuclear.

I fully agree that NO ONE should be told what they have to buy, have to do with their body, etc. For Jim Biden to tell people that they have to buy electric cars is absurd. That's creating a race for the other manufacturers to catch up and they won't fully be ready - not with manufacturing, not with disposal, not with much of anything. And that will counteract any good that could have possibly done for the environment. It will be a net negative. But really, everything the liberals do anymore is a net negative, so that's no surprise.

Also read that our power grid cannot handle the load if even 25% of cars become electric.

I received an email this AM from the Texas Workforce Commission which said "no entity in Texas can compel receipt of a COVID-19 vaccine by any individual, employee or consumer, who objects to the JAB for any reason of personal conscience, based on religious belief, of for medical reasons, including prior recovery from COVID-19."

It goes on to list the pertinent court cases. It says nobody can be denied unemployment benefits for rejecting the JAB and that "separations (firing) could affect employer contributions to the trust fund and experience ratings when determining yearly rates." There it is --- the financial consequences of Wuhan and these jabs are showing themselves.

It goes on to say these mandates are of dubious legality which several courts have ruled on rejecting these assertions of federal power.

There is a simple opt out one page form which has two boxes to be checked and a signing line.

1. medical reasons, including prior recovery from COVID-19.
2. reasons of personal conscience or religious belief.

I would post this but I'm unable to copy/paste a .pdf file to post here.

I'm not pro or con on EV's, but to act like by plugging up you're "not contributing to terrorism" is asinine. Afghanistan is sitting on one of the largest Rare Earth Mineral deposits in the world, and now that the US is out of the way, China gonna step right in and help themselves. Payments will go to the Taliban, money will be used to attack the western world.

I'm with TGSIO, I want to get in the car and get there. Fueling up 'ol girl (my nickname for the F150) takes 5 minutes and I get around 600 miles per tank. Granted, I'm usually at the gas station longer (bathroom, snacks, etc), but if I'm rushed I can be in and out in less than 10.

Remember Obama gave control of the WEB to the UN. Now the UN is taking down Private Websites. They do not like that people are waking up.

Good video that gave me another idea of something we can do to insulate ourselves.

The number one thing that we have done to protect ourselves is buying our own server. When it talks in the beginning about Gab and Parler having their infrastructure taken away, that cannot happen to us because we own our infrastructure.

The interesting thing I hadn’t thought about was the DNS censoring (kind of obvious but I just hadn’t thought about it yet). It doesn’t remove or touch the website at all, it just makes it where you can’t find it when you type in the URL.

Domains get registered through other companies, so those companies would have a right to do drop your registry. I’ll look into some stuff and make sure we are good.

In the end though, the best thing that we have going for us that will give us the most insulation of anything we could do to protect ourselves is having our own server.

Likewise, there are very few areas of the country where you cannot get your vehicle serviced if something breaks while driving. How many places are around which can work on these electric cars if something breaks? Of course, it's like the saying about BMWs, Jags, MB's or other high dollar cars---"if you can afford to purchase one you can afford to pay for the repairs."

Thank you for the response. These bastards have to be fought.

We have them here in Dayton. 6 spots at the Graduate in Oxford, MS. Plenty in Towson,MD.

Those are parking spots. I have yet to see them in the wild on, say, I-68🤣

(To be fair, I only know this because more than once I thought I scored a great parking spot only to see the sign and plug and proceded to cuss my way over to another, less ideal spot)
Pretty much gotta hit a Sheetz in Morgantown to find one on I-68... after that? Possibly Cumberland or Hagerstown? But yeah my hypothetical drive to DC in an electric car would basically be me stressing the whole time that I'd end up out of juice on the side of the interstate in Western MD.

I Think The Cabal is Waking Up That Many Are Waking Up That They've Gone Too Far

Time to Back Everything Down

I Keep Hearing That March Pandemic Will Be Officially Over

If Omnicron is the natural weakening of the virus as it appears, they will be exposing themselves even further. If that is possible, although most of the sheep will hold on to their masks.

Once things settle down, and people see how much of the National news organizations are bolstered by Pharma adds and money, perhaps we'll starting holding folks accountable. A boy can dream anyways

Gonna try to make it look like they saved the world when they created the issues but used them to gain power.

The Hegelian Dialectic:

The deep state creates a crisis, which causes outrage and/or instils fear in the public. Then the deep state creates a solution to restore public order. New laws and policies that are enacted covertly serve the end state that the deep state wanted all along: the enslavement of humanity. It is a form of mass mind control that shepherds an oblivious public towards tyranny and oppression.

The stupid fuck once again is reading from a prompter for Bob Dole and is not cognizant enough to not say end of statement in quotations
The sad thing is, this moron is negotiating for hundreds of millions of Americans, welfare and safety, with guys like Putin and XI.
We know the election was stolen. We know how it was stolen. We know he is a criminal. And we know that, no-one will be held accountable for 5 minutes or even censored.
America is that corrupted now, that the only way forward is to watch it fall.
Who corrupted it? The Military, Deep State, Bureaucracy, Political Parties.
And all of the above's GREED

The only way forward for America and for that matter all the Western Nations which were formerly great.
The only way to improve our situation, is to bring back catapults.

In the bad old days, when some War Lord would lay siege he would fire the captured leaders in the cities over the walls with Catapults.
I say bring back Catapults. You catch FJB stealing an election fire the SOB out of a Catapult for everyone to enjoy. You catch a moron in government like DeBlasio, fire him down main street in a catapult.

FFS Catapults get Catapults. We Have To Get Shed Of These Morons and Nincompoops' Somehow
