Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Damn. I hate to hear any of that, especially when I have a daughter about the same age (23), who was a Level 5+ cheerleader and still stays in excellent shape. She got the shot when she thought it was necessary to get it to go to Mexica for a planned trip with friends. Two days later, that requirement was lifted. It is a very touchy subject since her mother and I strongly discouraged her not to get it, and gave her a lot of information regarding our concerns. She is an adult and it was her call. Our son (20) will never get it as long as I am breathing. He had to petition for a religious exemption at school and takes weekly tests.
My FIL had eye surgery prior to getting the jab. We live near Ann Arbor and his surgery was done at UM. He had to take a full physical, get full labs and blood work prior to the surgery. He was in excellent health. He is hypoglycemic, so he eats extremely healthy and does not drink or smoke. Two weeks after a successful surgery he got the jab. Two weeks later he had a mild heart attack. Fuck. That. Jab.

It may have already been stated, since I'm a few pages back right now, but I would also talk about the concerning aspect of how the jab seems to be messing with women's menstrual cycles. I don't think your daughter is not yet at the age where she necessarily needs to be concerned about it, but we just don't know if this will be a long term affect, or have long term impacts on reproduction. It's just not a risk worth taking for a child that is not at any risk from it.
