Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

You can visit their shop/museum…among many other historically significant inventors and patent holders. Lot of world changing stuff came out of Dayton. (You like driving your car without cranking it? How ‘bout your cash register?) Kinda cool history that nobody ever knows about. At one point in relatively recent history, Dayton inventors held the most patents in the nation. Not per capita. The most. My husband’s grandfather was one of them. My father in law had a few of his own.
(Ahem…and the bros flew the plane at Kill Devil Hills…. Not Kitty Hawk. I lived in Manteo for a hot minute. I know those dunes and that beach. And history)

I’ll post info tomorrow morning. But I have very good reason that my 17 year old son (and all of his friends and teammates) are not vaccinated. My 22 year old, D1 athlete, heretofore perfectly healthy daughter is now a very good patient of one of the best cardiologists in the area. I had to catch her as she passed out Friday. She made the mistake of standing up from her comfy spot on the couch. Her primary doc tried to tell her she gets light headed (no hx) because “she’s tall”. Cardiologist isn’t having any of this bullshit. Never had any health issue until last March…her vaccination.
She gets to sandpaper her chest next week (for the 3rd time) to wear a heart monitor….again. We’re hopeful that beta blockers will be the prescribed course of treatment.
(My daughter was a diver. (Still coaches) Her best event was 10m. And now she can't get off the sofa)

She's an athlete. She's a high pressure/risk athlete. Y'all think she didn't have access to and monitoring by the best health care providers? You dive 10m, you're hitting that water at 33mph.
Never had a health issue until March after she chose (against my wishes, but she's an adult and made her choice) to get the vaccine.
On top of her heart issues, she's lost 19 pounds that she shouldn't lose. She was 5'10 and 131 (and pure muscle) She's now 5'10 and 122. She has always been small/tall. Petite in build, just elongated if that makes sense. But holy hell.
I need my girl healthy. And being tall is not a health issue.
