Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Anybody else been seeing twitter seemingly removing their likes, as soon as you give them lately? Last few days, I bet 1/3 of the tweets I like... all conservative, America 1st type of tweets... when I click the like, I see the number of likes go up one, then instantly back down one. I know people can remove likes, but don't think that is what is going on. Especially since I am always behind, and liking 2-3 day old tweets. In short, eat a dick, twitter. So fucking tired of all the censorship.

It wasn't a vaccine, but rather what was called variolation - they were basically infected with a less severe strain of smallpox to give them resistance to the nasty strain. They still got very sick. Similar in principle to a vaccine but much more rudimentary in it's application at the time.
To put this in perspective and bring this to bear on today's situation, the concept was to build natural immunity. If we did the same thing today, we'd infect everyone with the mildest strain of covid we're aware of and let their immune systems do the rest - pretty much exactly what we who are not getting the clot shot are doing. Without meaning to, he is effectively advocating against getting the jab.

Have to agree with this. When I moved into my current place, I needed a riding mower...before I got one, the grass got a little bit long. One day my neighbor just cut it. Bernie, like OBiden, have accumulated several million in residential property on Senate salaries of $175,000 (currently - much less when they were getting those homes). I doubt many could qualify similarly.
