• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

May have to switch to Chevrolet… He’ll, they probably have the same kind of foundation, too.
What am i missing? I was all about Ford when they didn't take the bailout money in 2008. Is the foundation some kind of woke bullshit Democrat PAC or something?

And good to have you back. It's always great to get a LE perspective.

Biden Banking Nominee Proud Recipient of Collegiate ‘Lenin Award’
Saule Omarova said equal pay was a 'huge achievement' by Soviet dictatorship

September 28, 2021

President Joe Biden's pick for the nation's top banking regulator received a scholarship named for Vladimir Lenin and praised the Soviet Union for paying the sexes equally.

Biden last week nominated Saule Omarova to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which regulates national banks. Omarova in 2019 praised aspects of the Soviet Union's economic system, calling the lack of a gender pay gap a "huge achievement" and an example of a flaw in capitalism. A native of Kazakhstan, Omarova graduated in 1989 from Moscow State University, where she received the Lenin Personal Academic Scholarship, according to her résumé.

Omarova is already facing opposition from the financial services industry over her proposal to "end banking as we know it." A proponent of stricter bank regulations, Omarova has proposed a banking system that relies on individuals, rather than banks, to hold bank accounts with the Federal Reserve. She said that a radical change to the system would make it "more inclusive, efficient and stable."

They assume all payments made evenly, and the minimum payments you were supposed to make is the baseline, ,and you pay the penalty (.5% plus interest). If you make >$150K, your next year's baseline is the lesser of what you made or 110% of previous year's tax.

One way many corporate owners get around this entirely is pay no taxes all year long, then do a big payroll on 12/31, withhold whatever amount you need, and viola, it's as though you made all your estimates right on time. But if you're an employee or operate through a partnership, can't do that.

This is what I do. I pay no estimated taxes throughout the year for my business. I stay in contact with my CPA regularly and by 12/31 we know what kind of expense we need to come up with in order to get me down to whatever I feel like paying in taxes. I usually get it down to 1,000-3,000.

It is true that a lot of business people don’t pay what would be considered their fair share. However, they set up loop holes and there is so much gray area that a smart person with a good CPA will never pay what they should. I should pay about 25-30% but I usually pay roughly 3-5%. I’ve gotten substantial tax returns as well despite having what I’ve mentioned above.
