• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Sec of Defense, Joint Chief of Staff, and Commander of Centcom all said it was their position to leave at least 2,500 troops in Afganastan but wouldn't say they told Tater Biden, but you know they did.

Knowing that which do you think is worse?
1. Tater lied and said no one told him.
2. Tater doesn't remember because he said not that he recalled.
No need to answer both are real possibilities and both are unacceptable for a POTUS.

You and I could have accomplished those two things. Should we be considered as a person to run for president? Also, if that is two of the biggest accomplishments of a Donald Trump presidency.....maybe he should sit this one out as well.
I could not disagree more.

I think it’s pretty clear one of the main reasons Trump was so overwhelming popular was because he provided a common sense alternative (America 1st) to democratic socialism on the left and conservativism on the right.

His America 1st platform is just to the right of Eisenhower’s platform and thus appeals to a much larger portion of the American electorate. We saw it in the vote tally in 2020 even for those that believe he only got the 75M tallied to him.

Fair enough, curious though. Since my w-2 doesn’t break down which quarters are my largest earning, how could they assess what should have been paid in. At least I don’t think the w2 breaks that down. Perhaps I’m wrong.

For instance, my 3rd and 4th quarter are usually much higher in pay then q1 and 2. So my tax liability would be much higher in those qtrs especially if it’s moving into other tax brackets. Does that make sense?
The IRS waives penalties for underpayment of estimated tax if you paid withholding and estimated tax of at least 90% of the tax for the current year or 100% of the tax shown on the return for the prior year. There are exceptions, but I doubt you meet them.

They calculate the penalty based on the amount of underpayment, period when the underpayment was due and underpaid, and the interest rate for underpayments that they publish quarterly.

I'm not sure how they figure out each quarter. Maybe divide your total tax by 4 and use as a baseline.

Hope that helps.

They assume all payments made evenly, and the minimum payments you were supposed to make is the baseline, ,and you pay the penalty (.5% plus interest). If you make >$150K, your next year's baseline is the lesser of what you made or 110% of previous year's tax.

One way many corporate owners get around this entirely is pay no taxes all year long, then do a big payroll on 12/31, withhold whatever amount you need, and viola, it's as though you made all your estimates right on time. But if you're an employee or operate through a partnership, can't do that.

PSA - Be sure to check out your home repair contractors. Neighbor set her alarm preparing to go to work and her alarm immediately went off. She went back inside and found 2 windows with their latches unlocked and one slightly open. Other neighbor has video of someone running from her home. Happened at 2 AM. Only people she had let inside were contractors. Never never never give your alarm codes to any contractor.
A few years ago our house was broken into. Thank God it was while my wife was dropping our daughter off at school (like they had our house staked out). They kicked in the front door, had a minute to ransack the house of all valuables before alarm sounded, then 15-20 minutes to get away before police would show up (best case).

Thieves knew they were never going to be caught. Alarm doesn’t prevent anything unless someone is at home and/or someone hears siren and is curious to what’s going on. We suspect the burglars were connected to the lawn service crew.

Needless to say I started maintaining the yard, but when we moved we moved next door to an officer that parks his patrol car in their driveway.

Thieves are the lowest form of humanity and unfortunately the government payroll is growing exponentially.
