Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Upon reflection, I am not sure any of us have really experienced fully the basic freedoms guaranteed to us. Of course I don’t like the mandates but if a business tried instituted one then I just wouldn’t shop there. The same way I wouldn’t get on a plane right now over those mandates.
I don’t have to worry about complying with the mandate because I’m not giving them the opportunity to make me submit. Even better I’m withholding my money which is really the only place you can hurt these companies.
I believe in federalism. People will continue to go and take part in things where the rules reflect what they are willing to submit to. If people don’t like those rules for their area then they can try to change them. It’s a proven system that has worked for these topics and all the others throughout history.
The “10 boosters or you can’t go shopping” reminds me of the “they’ll load us onto train cars” narrative that some posters swore was gonna come true months ago. Meanwhile here we are with no train cars, more and more states lifting mandates, and Puddin unable to even get agreement to fund the government or lift the debt ceiling.
Chalk me up as not quaking in my boots just because Puddin’s “patience is wearing thin”.
