Even so - how is it that boomers should be blamed for it?
Maybe look at those who have been in charge of financial policy the past 30 years.
It’s 2025 and more Boomers retire (literally because they’re so fucking old they can’t move) - let’s say you have a 75 year old Boomer today that retired 10 years ago when they were 65. Let’s assume they worked since they were 21 so 44 years… so for 44 years that boomer was in the workplace while his/her boomer colleagues in financial power positions were leading financial policy - oh for about 30 years or so…

That generation got executive titles in their late 30s and early 40s and sat in them for the next 40 years until they retired. My gen (GenX) will typically have to wait until their late 40s for that same title (in large part because some fucking boomer shithead has been sitting there and they’re now 70 fucking years old and don’t even have to work as they are so financially stable with the 2500sqft house they bought for $50K back when the Bears won the superbowl).

Boomers got power - THEY had control of financial policy - THEY rigged it for THEMSELVES and then collectively decided to never stop working so they can just continue to take take take take take.

Boomers are really good at taking… Fuck em.

Just put a 22yr of trade worker into a house Monday. He was not trying to buy a house like his parents had him accustomed to while growing up. He found something he could afford which may not be in the area or be as nice as they want. It can be done, but most clients I have in the under 30 range want to buy a house like thier parents own and that's not realistic.
I never disagree that it's harder now b/c of the points you made. I just don't see how boomers caused the government to rip us off at every turn.
This. Exactly. Take the numbers away and look at spending power. Boomers had tons more. But that’s not the issue. And FWIW, I’ve busted my ass my entire life - which is sort of why I have this take. I saw my mom and dad have similar jobs but have the absolute ability to acquire things easier. The issue is the the combination of all of the advantages economically the Boomers inherited and that they just consumed those advantages not thinking about future generations.

Bottom line is - Boomers were given the blueprint for sustaining our nation’s follow-on generations (again - thanks Golden Gen!!!!), and instead of executing that roadmap, in large part they decided to just use all the capital for themselves. A good example is how social security retirement age continues to lengthen - why?? Likely a Boomer squarely comfortable in their retirement plans made that decision. I mean it doesn’t impact them so why not?! Ha fuck them kids!! Corporate pensions? Ha! That’s a boomer privilege… Fuck them kids! Even with high interest rates, housing cost as a percentage of income were relatively lower for them compared to Gen X and beyond - fuck them kids! I had to walk uphill both ways in the snow so fuck them kids!

No fuck them boomers. I’ll retire when I’m 75 and then die. I have no shame in saying fuck boomers and I’ll continue to do until I’m dead. And when I see jimmies get rustled over that shit it makes my cock so fucking rock hard lol.

Hope this helps

“This Is Who We Are”!
No, It’s Not!!
Op-Ed by Jon Fetherston

Time and again, we hear politicians shout from podiums, “This is who we are! This is our city!” as if they alone define our values, our neighborhoods, our future. Every time I hear it, I get angry. Because it’s not who I am. And I know it’s not who many of you are either.

That phrase is often used as a shield…a way to shut down debate and pretend that dissent doesn’t exist. It’s meant to guilt people into silence, to make you believe that if you disagree with the political elite, you are somehow “less of a neighbor” or “less of a Bostonian.” That is arrogant. That is dangerous. And it is not democracy.

When
@MayorWu
or
@MassGovernor
say, “This is who we are,” what they really mean is, “This is who I want you to be.” They’re not speaking for the hardworking families watching their neighborhoods change under the weight of failed policies. They’re not speaking for parents who want safe schools, for shop owners who can’t survive rising crime, or for taxpayers who are footing the bill for decisions they never supported.

I don’t remember voting for open-ended sanctuary policies that release dangerous criminals back into our communities. I don’t remember choosing a city where violent offenders get more protections than victims. I don’t remember saying yes to reckless spending while roads crumble,schools fail, and working families struggle to keep up.

So, no…this is not who I am. I am not defined by a politician’s press conference or by their carefully crafted slogans. I am defined by the values of accountability, safety, fairness, and respect for the rule of law. That’s who we truly are the people who work, sacrifice, raise families, and want a better future for our communities.

Politicians may scream, “This is who we are.” But it’s time the people stand up and say: “No. This is not who we are and we refuse to let you decide for us.”
