Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

I've had multiple lawyers tell me I'd make a hell of a lawyer, but I already make good money being a high level IT network/infosec engineer for a major fortune 100 corporation.
My response to them was basically, I like keeping my soul in tact so I'm not sure I could become a lawyer. Each one was basically like that's a very good choice lol.

I was, I got out with a plea deal and a high profile attorney.
I spent damn near a quarter mil getting out and I'm just now starting to rebuild my life. This pardon lawyer grease work is costing even more, but I'll pay it for clearing my record. I had a nice fucking life before all this. High paying 6 figure job, 3400 sq ft house in Collin county Texas. Fun hot milf blonde GF post divorce that the FBI used against me (Fuck her after all that lol). Split 50/50 time and custody with the ex wife with my kids. Lost it all that during the arrest, haven't even seen my kids since the arrest because my evil ex wife took maximum advantage of the situation.
I'm just glad federal charges don't show up on most background checks. I'm also very lucky I got another high paying job once I got out, it's even better than the one I had when the US Marshalls came and arrested me.
If I didn't have all that and some good family to fall back on and take care of my stuff outside, I would probably still be in there with all the others that are probably just now getting out today.
Also if you can't afford your own attorney, and fed attorneys are VERY expensive, you're basically getting a plea deal attorney that gives 2 shits about you.
I was VERY lucky in my situation, and I feel much worse for the people who really got fucked without the resources to fight for themselves. I had it bad, but they all have had it much worse. I've been out for nearly 2 years. They're JUST NOW getting out. I feel for them.
