The Texas House supports another tax relief bill aimed towards and supported by businesses. Abbott has vetoed all bills thus far sent to him. He supported the House bill.

Years ago they declared nitrosamines in bacon to be a carcinogen. They injected the laboratory mice/rats with equivalent of eating 50 pounds (guestimating for emphasis) of bacon a day. Of course, anything would develop cancer eating that much. They'd also have gout, high cholesterol, clogged veins and arteries, clogged butt and much more.

Injecting the same amount found in a normal serving of bacon would take decades for the rodents to develop any issues, assuming they would. But, that time frame would take too long for Big Pharma or anyone else to reap the windfalls they sought.

I know a person whose brother played for SMU when they got the death penalty. He said the money and stuff his brother received on recruiting trips was substantial for HS kids in the 80's. At UT, each recruit was given a crisp $100 bill nightly when they went to the local beer garden and told to go buy a pitcher of beer. They got the beer and received the $100 back as change. Of course, beer was illegal for HS kids then. He said that was just at the beer garden. They got other packets of money elsewhere.

A friend who played at Colorado in the 60's would take his comp tickets to the local pharmacy and gave them to the pharmacist and received a packet of money in return.

Every college in the country has a place for student athletes to donate their tickets for envelopes.
