I'm not here to defend Desantis, I've said that many times. If any of the mud Trump or his acolytes throw at him were actually true, I'd be on the Never-Desantis bandwagon. To date virtually every accusation people like the above have made about him has been a lie. So why should we believe this one? It's sad to see a few of the posters I had respect for glom onto some of these silly accusations, then go silent when we find out it was a lie. If only Maga fans held the Donald to some semblance of the standard that is evidently expected out of Desantis.
You're taking 2nd or 3rd hand accounts of his remarks and assuming they're gospel. Just like the paid Trump shills on twitter who claimed Paul Ryan and Karl Rove were running Desantis' campaign. Even with all that, those are some pretty vague statements to try to use to justify that RD is weak on China. What do we know about Desantis & China, that isn't 2nd hand innuendo or rumor? He banned Chinese officials from buying property in Florida. Time and again, we find the Trump twitter narrative doesn't match up to reality. What is reality is that Trump - once again - recently praised Xi. Same as he has with Putin and every other murderous autocratic thug on planet earth.
Defend Trump. You can't. Remember Vegas, which created the impetus for this thread? Trump was in power. Did he get to the bottom of it? Nope, he kept it sealed tight. Defend Trump having his LGBT bash at Maralago, celebrating the Disgrace of Marriage act. Weiner laptop? Defend Trump keeping it hidden. Defend Trump's vax. Trump's shutdown. Defend trans men/womens bathroom at Trump Tower. Defend gov't spending exploding under Trump, even before covid. Defend him appointing deep-staters to the most powerful positions in gov't. All you've got is somehow he "knows better now".
He's fraud, and most of you don't want to look any deeper than his latest campaign speech or meme, you're afraid of what you'll find. His entire campaign is predicated on you forgetting he was already president for 4 years, just like his current anti-Desantis rhetoric is dependent on you forgetting that Trump praised him until it became clear he would run for Pres. Unlike most of you, I can't and won't forget Trump's 1st term. Trump was driving us towards the same cliff that Biden is.
