She doesn't have zero power, she has very limited ruling power. One of those limitations is Commander in Chief of the entire British Military. Let that sink in.
Another thing to be aware of, she is not simply the Queen of England. Technically she is Queen to all of the Commonwealth of Nations, 15 countries including Australia, New Zealand and one pesky country directly to our north. Again, mostly symbolic power, but an incredibly influential position. And that position will not automatically pass to Charles anywhere other than the UK, which has the potential to create a scenario.
But that's not where the influence ends. The Queen has been one of the most influential people on the face of the earth for decades. Influence is power. Charles won't have her influence right out of the gate but he will be immensely influential.
Then there are all the secondary things. Right off the top, how will the death of an overwhelmingly popular monarch in a UK, whose stability is resting on a knife edge already, impact the UK and by extension, the rest of the world?
To think this will have no impact on us is wishful. Will it negatively impact us? Not necessarily. But to just assume that it won't would be incredibly nearsighted.
