Them not showing killed the amendment. This also gave Democrats an excuse that the opposition to not defunding them was bipartisan.

I called Richard Burr’s office this morning...I was told by some pompous fuck that the reason that the senators didn’t show up was that there was some kind of special agreement that when one side has senators out, “ill,” that the other side designated senators that will not show up for votes...I told him they were a bunch of criminals and he hung up on me. Does anyone know if this “agreement” is so? I think it sounds criminal...

He's still holding together enough support to govern. I think they need another 10 or so to drop support to be able to oust him. He declared the state of emergency, but as I understand it, the parliament had to approve it, and he still had enough mps cobbled together to give a majority.
They are no republicans or democrats in DC.
I had faith in Senator Kennedy, but that appears to be off.
