Our HS is one of the largest in the state. 4000 kids. 98.6% go to a 4 year college after graduation. Our schools are amazingly good. Just within my immediate neighbors we have had 2 Harvard kids, 3 to Princeton, 1 to Stanford. 3 West Point kids, and dozens to Iowa, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio State, Illinois, and Colorado.
I know you know the academic strength of Oakwood. Getting lots more rumblings of parents and kids getting ready to force the hand.
Full disclosure...I despise the SI and he hates me. And he still has to be nice to me (which, I'm pissy enough to take a little joy about).
I could have owned this school district 3 times over. Starting with my then 15 year old daughter COACHING the dive team and me scrambling to get certified to get the team on deck for sectionals. Thank goodness her club coach coached Alter and stepped in to coach Oakwood so my girl could focus on diving at state. If I knew then what I know now, Max would have gone to Culver or Western Reserve (he had opportunities at both) I wasn't ready to let my baby go away. Should have grown a set and sent him.
Now? My husband sent him an email 2 weeks ago about the forced masking. His response (yesterday) The science says.....
Yeah, bitch...which science would that be? The science of learning loss, mental health crisis, speech therapy referrals through the roof, children with no comprehension of facial/emotional cues? The masks that do not and have never done a damn thing other than provide a physical reminder of the plague of tyranny?
I don't think these asshats (local to Potatus) truly grasp the seething rage that is and has been bubbling. Especially from those of us who have been pounding the drums and screaming since the '2 weeks to flatten the curve' bullshit....and have been silenced, dismissed, called names.....and we were always fucking right.
Never has there been a time that we sacrifice children to protect the older generations. Never. The children ARE the future and we've always sacrificed for them. Not this time. We're destroying them...for nothing.
I'm beyond furious. Just waiting for Ramey to try to turn me in as a terrorist when we pull the scholarships and the love of teaching award.
And I call the local news to ambush him again.
Fun note off topic...Michael Hoecht (pronounced Hoyt) #96 for the Rams is an Oakwood grad and he and his family are good friends with my kids. Mike was a year ahead of my daughter (the diver). Max texts with him every couple of days. He's a great guy. And lovely family. I hope he has a great game in a close loss to Cincy.
I will never forget watching an 8th grade Michael dragging the entire Franklin defense down the field.
