Warning this is a really hot take, if you're too sensitive stay away from this thread

I said it. There nothing really enjoyable at the beach.
  • It's either too hot, water is too cold
  • You get sunburned if your there too long
  • Besides looking at the view and enjoying it (which should last no longer than couple of hours) there is no point
  • Seafood is good, but shouldn't be the main reason you go
  • If you say you go to look at women, just no... Go watch PornHub or look in the NSFW thread on the FSF
  • And the sand, the Fucking sand. It absolutely sucks. It gets everywhere. In your junk (balls), in your junk (towels, cooler, umbrelllas, etc), in your hair, in your car, etc.

Agree with you OP. The older I get, the less I like it. I'm ready to leave in about an hour. I'd rather sit at an oceanside swimming pool and if I get an overwhelming desire to look at the ocean, I'll get out of the pool or my chair, think to myself "yep, there's the ocean" and promptly sit back down. Obviously, I'm not into deep sea fishing or surfing.

1. Dress appropriately. If the water is too cold, just use the hot tub/ heated pool. The heated pool is the one with more people in it.
2. Who goes to the beach without a tent for shade? You are doing it wrong.
3. You can bring whatever you want to the beach. You can fish, surf, play whatever sport you want, han out, read, FSF, watch TV, eat, drink, whatever.
4. Seafood is good.
5. I’m happily married so I don’t notice the girls.*
6. Take a shower and jump in the heated pool before you go inside. And who drives their car on the beach? I haven’t done that since I was a teenager.

What’s next, the sand gets in your boxers underneath your swimming suit and in the socks you wear under your crocs?

Fuck that. You carry a tent, a cooler, a bag with towels and assorted shit, walk about a quarter mile to the beach, spend about 30 minutes setting up the tent and spreading everything out, sit on your ass most of the time, run out and dip your toe in the ocean, reverse the process and go home.

No, I go to my beach club. Walk out with a bag and tell the dude I need 4 chairs and 3 umbrellas. Also request 8 towels. Sit down, swim, throw football, play paddle ball, go on SUP, take out the Hobie Cat every once in a while, order drinks. Then either go home or opt to stay the night.

Here in Hawaii we get mountains and awesome beaches. When the trades blowing it’s never too hot. You’re just using poors beaches. We do still end up in the pool more frequently though ha

if you ever hear some yell “yore poor” to someone fishing on the beach, that’s me. Biggest pet peeve for me. Poorsinous people fishing off the beach when it’s 50-100% full

Born and raised at the beach. I'm talking lived at the beach. If I wasn't there it was because of school or some other function. I live a few blocks away from the beach. I HATE GOING TO THE BEACH. I went for the first time in about 4(?) years cause i had a craving last Saturday. GOING TO THE BEACH SUCKS. These pictures you see is when someone else brings your shit to you. Fuck that and come at me.

Edit: Do want to go tomorrow tho.

That's not really going to the beach. I'm talking about your average tourist who spends more time gathering, toting, and setting up his shit than he does time on the beach, not some valet service.

Even what he is describing sounds like a sandy, hot, wet, pain in the ass trip when you can do all that same shit in yore own back yard.

Well stop being the average tourist. Listen I love the mountains as well and trying to talk wife into moving out there just for the experience for a few years. But I will always want to be back but the ocean. Some people love it, some hate it. I need to be by water, its in my blood. That first dive into the ocean is just awesome.
As for the packing, anything you want to do outside of a private club is gonna involve packing a bunch of crap. Want to go to the lake? Pack the cooler, life jackets, bathing suits, towels, etc.. Camping, well you get the idea.

Beach is ok, got better when I got married and then had someone to lather up my back for me. I can do about two hard-core, sit out there all day days.....I like activities, sitting in the sun under a tent in the sand gets boring.

But then I love deep sea fishing, hitting up the seafood market.

The beach at night on LSD is amazing, its like you're on the moon.

I like the beach. It’s quite relaxing to sit and listen to music while reading a book and sipping a beer. I enjoy the people watching and the views. It’s a great place to hang out with family and friends- talk, play games, whatever. I do not, however, like a crowded beach.

I also like the mountains and lake for the same reasons.

Let me guess, OP went to a Yankee beach?

Yankee f@&$ are always talking down the beach like it's not a desirable place to be, probably cuz they think the city is cool, or they cannot picture the majority of their state's women on the beach in a small bikini. Go to New Smryna Beach near Daytona and see what you think. Saw a bunch of dolphins about 30 feet from me last time, and a 3 foot shark swam right past me and my niece. Zero F's given. The other sites were very nice.

Agree with everything except Yankee beach. It's called the shore up there. I lived it. Never went to the beach until I moved south.

Not spent alot of time on beaches, but they are definitely different experiences.

Summer I was 16, got to go to Hawaii and stay on Waikiki beach. I body boarded till I was so tired it got dangerous. Walked across the street to hotel, power napped, then went people watching on the strip.

Going from the sod fields of Oklahoma to Hawaii was a life experience....If I would have gone 2 years later I would have needed bail money and a trip to a STD doctor.

More like wake up, wheel the wagon down (tent, chairs and cooler) downstairs. Set tent up just above high tide line. Set up chairs by the water so somebody like you doesn’t set up right in front of me. Kids bring down the other stuff when they come down. Hang out all day, wander back to the condo for lunch and to get out of the sun for a little while if you want. At the end of the day you take down the tent and chairs and wheel the wagon back upstairs.

so we can agree you think the beach sucks because you are doing it wrong?

they really need a brochure or something for northerners who don’t know how to go to the beach. Don’t set up on top of me. Don’t set up in front of me; i set up where I did because when the tide comes in You will have to move your stuff 5 times. Yes I’m going to let my kids run back and forth through your stuff kicking sand all over you and everything if you set up in front of me. Yes it’s on purpose. No I don’t want to hear your shitty music. Yes you need sunscreen and I am going to laugh at you tomorrow when you are the color of a lobster. No you shouldn’t fish if there are a lot of people in the water; move down the beach. The list goes on and on.

I love the beach. Always have. I’ve learned to enjoy it in different ways as I’ve grown older. From staying in the surf as a kid and teenager to relaxing and fishing as an adult. I’ve learned to love it in the spring and fall as I’ve grown older. We live about an hour and a half from the NC coast. It’s an enjoyable ride with the top down on the Mustang. There’s a certain calm in the morning and evening that is unmatched anywhere else for me.

Yeah, but I don't end up with sand in my crotch from going camping and have to shower and change....and I don't have to pack/unpack like you do if you go to the beach several times while on vacation. To each his own. I just don't care for it anymore.

I like camping too, but there are some obvious downsides there, too. I can get the sand out of my shorts but I can’t get rid of the dang bug bites...it’s all in ones perspective. I enjoy both.

Listen, if you don't end up with something in your crotch you are doing it wrong.

my favorite times are spring and fall. Agree it’s too hot from mid-July to mid September. Generally try and plan a mountain trip in august to cool off.
