@Martin
It's not the first time it has gotten cancelled. however, the organizers often know the strings to pull to get it going. and here in Uganda, we have men more powerful than the parliament itself. The issue of sexual immorality(considering the fact that some individuals decide to have sex in open spaces or public areas as they're cheered on) has always been the cause of concern and is drawn majorly from our cultural values and norms. However,this is the only festival where people lose it all,shame and self respect has no place inside the grounds. But it's fun if you intend to have fun

Great pictures @Martin and thanks for posting. You certainly called that one @Emma tenywa, you knew the festival would be back on :)

Looks like a good time where people let loose and have some fun. Looks similar to a LOLLAPALOOZA festival we have here in the states.

What is the drug scene like in Uganda? What are the drugs of choice (most popular) and do they carry stiff penalties if you get caught with them?

Cannabis, banned but easily available, cocaine and heroine come in second and are majorly used by foreigners, especially somalis and people of higher social status. There are other locally minted drugs majorly used by people who don't smoke and the youth, these are also highly effective and take as little as 3 - 5 minutes to make you high.the drugs can have a mixture of tobacco, hash and battery acid added in. Often, this is combined with cannabis to form a highly potent mixture. And then there's a legally imported drug from india called miraj. And finally alcohol

Here, the legal system is full of loopholes if you play your cards well. Recently in January, the president pardoned a south American drug trafficker who was serving a 22year jail term and had so far served only three of the twenty two years
