The story of Big Muskie - The largest walking dragline ever made

Standing nearly 22 stories tall and weighing as much as 10,000 Miatas, this is the story of Big Muskie, the biggest, most-badass walking dragline ever made.

So stick around the end of this video to find out how it was made, how much power it needed in order to operate - hint: it was A LOT - and how ultimately it disappeared from the face of the Earth. Except one part, that is.

Well...this is confusing as I read the title to be "TRANS".

I figured this was to list companies we should NOT do business with....

"Big Boy" #4014 test run June 05, 2023 from steam shop, to Borie, backing to Speer then home again

"Big Boy" #4014 test run June 05, 2023 before heading to Omaha - pulling out of steam shop, to Borie, backing to Speer on the Borie turn off, then home again to the steam shop.

BIG BOY No. #4014 From Union Pacific’s web page “BIG BOY No. 4014 -Twenty-five Big Boys were built exclusively for Union Pacific Railroad, the first of which was delivered in 1941. The locomotives were 132 feet long and weighed 1.2 million pounds. Because of their great length, the frames of the Big Boys were "hinged," or articulated, to allow them to negotiate curves. They had a 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement, which meant they had four wheels on the leading set of "pilot" wheels which guided the engine, eight drivers, another set of eight drivers, and four wheels following which supported the rear of the locomotive. The massive engines normally operated between Ogden, Utah, and Cheyenne, Wyo.

There are seven Big Boys on public display in various cities around the country. They can be found in St. Louis, Missouri; Dallas, Texas; Omaha, Nebraska; Denver, Colorado; Scranton, Pennsylvania; Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Big Boy No. 4014 was delivered to Union Pacific in December 1941. The locomotive was retired in December 1961, having traveled 1,031,205 miles in its 20 years in service. Union Pacific reacquired No. 4014 from the Rail Giants Museum in Pomona, California, in 2013, and relocated it back to Cheyenne to begin a multi-year restoration process. It returned to service in May 2019 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad’s completion.

A freight train carrying hazardous material derailed into Yellowstone River after a bridge collapsed in Montana early Saturday morning, officials announced.

Officials said the incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. while the train was traveling westbound near Reed Point, Montana. Four of the derailed railcars carried molten sulfur, and three carried hot asphalt, Emergency Management for Yellowstone County director K.C. Williams told ABC News.

The train crew was reported as safe, and Montana officials reported no injuries from the bridge collapse.
Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) said he was “monitoring the situation” in a statement on social media.

Remember the illegal Chinese military aged men caught with train rail cutting tools? They are here to do sabotage while the FBI stages and arrests protestors on one side of the fence.

Maine Two Foot Railroads

Thought you might appreciate this part of a video I have had in my collection for some time about Edaville. It is in two parts about two hours each. It was part of a 20 hour compilation of videos (converted from VHS?) from unnamed companies. You might find it by searching for the rather obvious name of "Steam Trains" on Amazon or elsewhere.

I have been informed of the name of the copyright holder of this snippet of the two hour video and am attempting to contact them for permission to leave it up.

Union Pacific Donation Special Departs Cheyenne, WY

History was made on Friday, November 11th 2022, as the UP Steam Crew pulled a small assortment of historic equipment out of Cheyenne, WY. This assortment of historic locomotives and cars had been donated by Union Pacific to such preservation groups as the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America, and the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad. Much of this equipment (including the world-renowned "Challenger" #3985, and 2-10-2 #5511) had called the city of Cheyenne 'home' for a time spanning greater than 65 years. Alas, we viewed as this beautiful assortment of railroad history was towed out of town for what may be the very last time...

In this video, watch from the US Highway 85 bridge above the Cheyenne Yard as the UP Steam Crew prepares the heritage equipment for the move West. Along with the 2 big steam engines are UP DDA40X 6936, a UP CA10 caboose, an ex UP/Amtrak E9B, and Ex-CNW F7A #401. As soon as the equipment is ready, UP 5716 helps the equipment out of Cheyenne with the assistance of UP 8198 and UP Steam fireman Ted Schulte at the throttle. The Wyoming wind was relentless, the cold November air was bone-chilling, and the UP's famed "Overland Route" was buzzing with activity. Come take a look! Rate, Comment. Subscribe. ENJOY!!!
