"Faridah Namppima, the traffic police spokesperson says that the fire could have been contained if there were fore tenders in Mpigi."

What is the story?
Gateway bus in flames.
Mpigi, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A bus belonging to Gateway bus company has burst up flames in Mpigi district.

A statement from traffic police shows that the incident happened at around midday at the Kampiringisa police checkpoint in Kamengo sub-county, along the Kampala-Masaka highway.

An incident report from the traffic police says that the Gateway bus registration number UAU 926U, was destined for Kabale from Kampala when it caught fire.

“The cause of fire outbreak has not yet been established. All passengers have come out alive but their properties burnt,” reads the brief statement.

By 2pm, police fire tenders were yet to arrive at the scene. A team of police officers had sealed off the road to prevent further disaster.
