Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

5 so far. 70-100 vehicles piled up. Lots of people trapped in their crunched up cars suffering from hypothermia.

Feel like a similar situation like this happened last year. Big pileup of vehicles/18 wheelers from bad road conditions

The only reason Va is blue is because of NoVa. Cut out Fairfax county and it's much more red than 1980 could ever hope to be

Trucking and logistics is one of the worst industries imaginable. Margins suck ass, I think it’s 2 to 3% so you get situations like this where 20 mins behind schedule deviating around shitty weather costs exponentially more money. Worth it to go barrel assign through bad weather everyone knows is coming and potentially kill people along the way.
The hysteria associated with a little cold is comical.
Ok.. so I will always laugh as I did today when I was at Publix in Atlanta. I put all my groceries in my car, I looked around for one of those cart returns but none were around. Some old lady who was 50 ft away yelled at me, “I will take your buggy” in a southern drawl. yes I was laughing.
