Does anyone have one? Took a brand new out out for a test drive today. Felt good in my hand but the slide released is EXTREMELY tight. The dealer said it will loosen up as I shoot it. Is that true?

Everything I have read tells me the SAS is a gimmick & just get the regular 365. That sight is insanely hard to pickup, compared to traditional sights. Also, when have you ever had a problem with regular sights or a tiny slide release hanging up on something when drawing a gun? I'm guessing never. The SAS was a solution in search of a problem. Seems like a decent idea on its surface, but not when you really think about it.

Also, that slide release will loosen up with use, but only a little bit. It is hard to operate because of its small size and recessed position, not because of a tight spring. Try it next to a standard P365, and see the big difference.

I think a Colt Commander 45cal would be better for close range, dependability and all out azz kicking. I bought one in the box 4 days before I left for VN. An aluminum frame and easy to conceal and a detctive model so it is very short in length. In 67 it cost 95 dollars but today it is over 450 depending where you buy it. I sold the gun about a week before I came home for 75 bucks.

I couldn't tell if it was difficult to operate due to its size and recessed possession or due to newness. I've owned plenty of new rifles, but I've never been the owner of a new handgun, so the I didn't know how much it'll loosen up....or if that was a problem specific problem to the sas

Thank you for your insight. Much appreciated.

Good luck on your first new handgun purchase! I think it'd be hard to go wrong with a standard P365, but there are so many great options these days.

The P365 SAS slide release doesn't bug me too much, because I would likely never need it in a defensive situation and anytime I did need it I could just slingshot the slide. The thing I really hate about the SAS is the weird little sight it has. 3 or 2 dots are much quicker for me to pick up, as well as shoot accurately...Although I carry a S&W 442 most days, so I obviously don't put a premium on sights for a carry gun.

If I was told that a precision hand gun would "loosen up" after I shoot with it, I would not buy that hand gun.

I have a CZ 75 SP-01 which is an awesome pistol and the finest one I have ever owned. It was heavy and tight and solid the first time I shot it and it has stayed the precision firearm it was designed to be. Check one out @JerBearr

How do you like the bullseye sight they put on that thing? I don't think I could get used to that.
I bought the one that has just the traditional sights on it but it’s not the try John but I believe it’s their glow in the dark front sight. Excuse me if I’m misunderstanding but I think you might be referring to the rear sight that had the lens type feature on it, I did not want that one

Correct, the OP asked about the SAS model, which as far as I know does not have a front sight. It just has the weird sort of red dot sight on the rear, SIG calls it a bullseye sight I believe. The P365 SAS also has the slide release recessed & flat, where it is difficult to manipulate.
