Cig and Dolson (AD) figured out how to de-risk recruiting using portal, which there is now a premium on with NIL. That is the strategy they are still ahead of all the other programs who are investing dollars in HS recruits that are more risky than 2-3 year players that are proven to be productive at the Power 4 level.

Now they also have to fit people into system, scout the right guys (which they are clearly very good at) and fill a new roster every year, which will determine how long this run lasts.

I’d try not to read too much into old stereotypes, since every program ends up mixing personalities and backgrounds anyway. What usually matters is whether the staff sets clear expectations and the players buy in. I check RubiScore soccer scores a lot when I’m following how different teams blend new talent, and the same idea applies here: if the culture’s solid, the transition shouldn’t shake things up too much.
