Assault rifles are already banned.
The definition of an assault rifle as defined in WWII is a gun with the ability to switch between fully automatic for charging and clearing trenches and semi-automatic shots for high accuracy.
Fully automatic guns are illegal in US.

We all know the definition of an assault weapon, and not just a rifle like you’re trying to spin it, is any semi automatic weapon, rifles, and shotguns since they can all be used to assault someone!
