• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Need advice about upcoming prostate exam

This Monday I’ve got my yearly exam. For the past several years I’ve not been digitally molested but just had the blood test and that’s it. It’s been a relief honestly. But, I feel a bit selfish by not doing all I can to make sure I have no issues.

Anywho, this morning I get a text that Brad, my regular doctor, will not be in and if I would be OK with Samantha, the nurse practitioner, seeing me instead. She’s a small, nice looking, red haired woman with a great personality so I’m comfortable with her.

Sorry I’m getting off track. My question is, since it has been several years should I demand a digital rectal exam to be certain I have no issues?

Hey I’m open to suggestions. What’s my play on this?

I’m preparing for the possibility she may steer this in the direction of a non-digitally invasive exam. To get ahead, when she asks if I’ve had any issues I could suggest that I’ve had discomfort due to my belief that my prostate is enlarged. This should get us on the same page early on.

My god man.....cancel this and burn down that office ASAP. So if the soul stealing ginger takes the soul by staring in your eyes. What happens when the soul stealing ginger stares at butthole.......Im not privy to this answer and can guarantee I will never find out!

A little issue has arisen that has me in a bit of a quandary. My wife mentioned that when she visited, a PA named Carrie saw her in place of our regular Dr. Now I’m not sure what I’m getting into. It’s very possible that Carrie is the red headed spitfire and Samantha is an unknown.

Any planning may be for naught. I certainly am going to have to think on my feet for this one.
