When I had pneumonia 15 years ago the MD had me take 4 times the recommended dose of Mucinex. It did the job as I coughed up some nasty stuff. No bouts with diarrhea but I wasn't taking the dynamite (DM) formulation. He wanted to put me in the hospital. I refused and said I'd get more rest at home. You get little rest in hospitals. They continuously wake you for bleedings or BP checks.
