I love the game. Coached for over 30 years. I hate what MLB has become. I can get my fix at the local high school field. I spent a lot of years there. I’d suggest that you guys do the same...those kids need and want your support...
College baseball coverage seems to be increasing on TV in the mean time.

I used to watch the Braves all the time. In the last few years it has been basically impossible to watch the them in North Alabama due to blackouts and TV providers not coming up with a deal with Fox Sports South. That definitely took the air out of baseball for me as a fan. Now I'm basically a check the standings and statistics once a week to see where the Braves are.
@PleasureMoose and I used to watch the Braves and come up with nicknames and imaginary back stories for the players. Matt Diaz was Mr. Generic and then we had Mark "Knees" Kotsay

The shifts, paired with the constant high velocity pitching, have taken away from the game in my own opinion. Putting the ball in play has become increasingly more difficult, much less being able to put the ball where you want it to go. Having coached for over 30 years, my last stop as the varsity pitching coach at Brownsburg High School in the Indianapolis area, I’ve seen what velocity has done to even the HS game. We’d face each team in our conference for a 3 game series...usually 2 of those games, we’d see velocity from 92-95. I saw our hitting coach ask a better player, “Why didn’t you go oppo,” after the kid weakly grounded out to short. Kid said, “Coach, I was just tryin’ to make contact.”
Putting the ball in play has become more and more difficult. I’ve heard MLB players say the same thing against the upper 90’s pitching. It all sounds easy...guess what...it’s not. One of the things that really has saddened me with the shifting is you just don’t see the great and athletic infield plays that you once saw regularly. The ball in the hole at short. Plays on balls up the middle....the shift has taken that athletic beauty away and replaced it with routine plays by players stationed in “small circles” as regulated by the numbers. Now, I don’t say that isn’t smart baseball...I’m saying it’s “ugly uninteresting baseball” that I don’t find appealing to watch. Just my opinion...

I am a person who hates all the shifts employed, but this tweet above is pure truth.
The shifts were driven by analytics. Change your own analytics and the shifts will go away. Drop a few bunts down for hits and see how quick the defenses change. Instead they are capitulating to a bunch of pull happy guys who strike out 200 times a year.
Normally as a Mets fan I would fight you for saying that having Atlanta winning it all is a good thing, but in light of what MLB did to the city, I was happy they won it all. Now that I got that out of my system there will be no more Braves adoration.
They all believe these multi-million $ salaries will continue forever. There will come a time when TV ad revenue will fall short, few people in the stands and little parking/concession revenue. Ironically, these entitled people are strangling the entertainment goose and its golden eggs.
A pox on all of them. I hope they all go bankrupt.
And I'm a huge baseball fan. Played at a high level and have coached it as well. I watched tons of baseball growing up. I was a huge fan of Ken Griffey Jr, watched the Cubs since the early 80's through the Ryne Sandberg, Greg Maddux, Andre Dawson, Sammy Sosa, and Kris Bryant days. I was friends with a kid who was a huge Braves fan, so I ended up watching a lot of their games back when they were loaded with pitching (Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Avery) and had David Justice, Pendleton, McGriff, etc.
When they started introducing all of the woke nonsense, I stopped watching it entirely for quite a while. I don't understand how they don't understand how much of their fanbase they're alienating with the lockout, on top of the garbage that they have been pushing, including pulling the AS game from Atlanta due to politics. Just sad to see from the sport that I've grown up with and have always loved.
Good stuff. I will add that the approach at the plate has changed dramatically over the last bunch of years. The swing used to be more level or even swinging down on it. Also the swing was much shorter than the modern swing. Those things promote better contact. Nowadays everyone is swinging up on it and there is not as much concern for less contact.
I know one of the ownership familes of the Reds. Dude used to work on the Bush campaign and was a solid republican. Last time i talked with him i figured out they were never-trumpers and on board with the democrats. ugh

I've always wanted to start a national fans union. If you think about, if there was a way to unite fans everywhere, they would have all the leverage and could demand lower ticket, parking and food and beverage pricing. It would be such a joy to watch all these high-priced diva players and these billionaire owners groveling to not have a nationwide fan strike, when they can't get anyone to attend or watch their games. The union could be for all sports and also include college fans to stop conference realignment, rampant cheating, and once again overly priced tickets, parking and food and beverage.
This is actually a really good idea. The players are represented, the owners are represented, the umpires are represented, the broadcasters etc probably all have unions. I am anti-union but also of the mindset if you can't beat em join em.
What if all the fans went to a game and agreed to not buy a certain product until the price came down? Seems a little far fetched and in a way fans already get to vote with their wallet. But your idea brings the collective fan together. A website or app could handle this.
