• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

@MortgageHorn, and others investing in HBAR. Are you using a hardware wallet to keep your investment safe? If so, which ones do you recommend for HBAR specifically? It looks like ledger supports it, kind of, but their website isn't super clear to me. It seems that if you install the Hed Hash app and then set up the ledger live app on your device, you can transfer to and from the ledger device. Is that what you guys are doing?

Edit to add that I don't see that Trezor supports it yet.

I’m a crypto novice and purchase through Binance. It’s not “anywhere” so to speak. Should I be transferring it somewhere ?

I bought a Nano X per @MortgageHorn's recommendation. Still waiting for it to arrive but plan on using it for all my crypto including HBAR. My understanding is you need to download a separate app for each cryptocurrency you are trying to store.

I'm definitely not the authority on this subject, but have investigated it some. Crypto hardware wallets are considered safer than on the internet sites like Binance, Coinbase, etc, because you can essentially get them offline. So you shift your funds to your hardware wallet, and it's not accessible to be transferred out unless you have your hardware wallet plugged in to your computer.

If you have your money in one of the companies like Binance, etc, your money is safe, depending on the vulnerability of the company itself, the security of your computer or phone, your network, and the strength of your password on the website. If any of those are breached, you could potentially have your money stolen.
