Wow, I had no idea that's what caused this dude to shoot up the place. I 100% agree on back surgery as an absolute last option though, as I've known several people that have had it done and seem to be worse off than they were before.
 
Always get a second opinion, but a surgeon fixed a herniated disc in my neck almost 10 years ago. Close to 100% since, versus crippling pain before surgery. PT & steroid injections did little to stop the constant, intense pain, so I did exhaust all other options, which insurance insists upon before surgery anyway.
