I’ve kept a nicely trimmed beard or a homeless man thick beard for the last 10 years or so. Recently started clean shaving.

Now I get ingrown hairs like a sumbitch that bleed like hell and look like teeenage zits. How the hell do I get rid of these??

I’m scared to leave the house as my face looks like a leper

Weird. I'm clean shaven all the time (maybe 4-5 days of growth max), and rarely ever have ingrown hairs. Wish I could help. Maybe try a different gel or razor???

Grow your beard back out.

Or wash your face with cold water after you shave.

Use a microfoliant on the skin and a proper face soap to start.

I would definitely recommend using a SHARP razor. Also, shave with the flow of the beard, not against, if that makes sense. Different parts of the face / neck, hair flows in different directions.

I use Art of Shaving gel and soap along with a HOT towel to soften everything up prior to the shave. Yes, it does make a difference for a smoother shave

If you use a multi-blade cartridge razor, that's the likely culprit, as they pull the hair and cut it, essentially shaving below the skin. A good single blade safety razor would fix this, as it cuts the hair at skin level.
I have a good single blade that I use at times, but it's definitely a longer process than using a multi blade. I kind of enjoy the single blade process, but many times just side with the convenience and speed of the multi.

I assume you can get as close a shave with a single blade, it just takes a lot longer?
Yeah. You have to do down first, rinse, re-lather, then go side to side, rinse, re-lather, then go up. Easy to get razor burn and takes much longer. The shave ends up being really close though if you do it right, but its a process. Can't apply much pressure at all.

A dermatologist that works at Wal-Mart can fix your simple problem. A single one millisecond burst from class T5 laser and the hair follicle is fried to hell and back. But be ready to sit still for about 5 hours. But keep them away from your nose hairs, that hurts like a mother fucker!

Hot Hot water on a towel..........then put it to your face..............remove..............lather............then while hot hot water is running.........one swipe with the grain...........then rinse in hot hot water..............repeat

also, you cant be not shaving for 4 days then just expect to shave clean. you will likely need to trim first3, then razor.

it aint the razor............................it is because you are going against the grain and cutting the hair under the skin......................kind of...........

this was the gold standard when i was in the Army.........https://gillette.com/en-us/products/razors-trimmers-and-blades/mach3-razor

Hey mate, just curious bout something.

(*& pardon me if i'm mistaken. i think ya mentioned about dietary changes in the hospital visit thread aye¿?)

May i inquire as to how long it has been since you've adjusted dietary/nutritional intake?

*not suggesting this is the cause, and more like there may possibly be an influence, of which will most likely—eventually resolve so long as the healthy nutritional intake is maintained.[¿?]
(*takes a while to detoxify the body, and typically the process does manifest as infection, illness and such during this natural purging process.)

Other than that, personally i don't clean shave and simply do a full head shave weekly with an electric hair clipper—at the shortest setting,...😅

how is "clean shaven all the time" and "maybe 4-5 days of growth max" remotely the same thing.....so you shave once per calender week and you call that clean shaven? WTF
Well, not everyone grows facial hair like a barbarian. LOL. Okay, not clean shaven all the time, but I shave every few days, and it rarely gets more than 1/8" or so
