Do you back into your parking spots?

Douche move unless it is a spot where it will be easier to pull out than back out...but just backing in every spot is a loser move. If you do this, you likely drive a pickup truck squatted low in the back and wear a gold chain.

Or don’t really have a nice car but you overvalue it so you back in while holding everyone up because a you couldn’t get lined up the first time.

I’m from west Texas and drive a truck… easier to leave when I’m backed in!
This is your answer. Turning radius on a pickup is such that it’s far easier to back in and pull straight out. Also, I’m in the habit of going to the last spot in line and parking as close to the curb as you can. Gives you more space, and prevents some idiot from giving you a door ding.

Back in. It’s the white man's way of parking. A bit more effort today for a greater reward tomorrow.
You must not be from Atlanta. It’s opposite here on race on who generally backs in.

Btw with those fancy ai rear facing cameras it’s safer since the camera alerts cross traffic when backing out. Whereas when pulling out forward you can’t see around big vehicles.

This. It would seriously take me twice as long to pull forward into most spots. I can back into most spots on the first try. My truck is long as fuck, all the bitches in their BMWs need to just take a chill pill.

How does it take twice as long to simply swing wide and turn into the spot, versus pulling past it, shifting to reverse, and backing in? I can back up with the best of em, but it is definitely faster to pull straight in.

There are very few driving aisles that are wide enough that I can swing wide enough to pull into the spot on one try, without having to backup to get straight and be in between the lines. I could get out of the aisle in one try but I would be crooked as shit and the people on either side of me may or may not be able to get out.

I can backup and be exactly in between the lines on one try.

Must be a long truck you got there. I only drive a Yukon, so no such issues with pulling straight in.

Couple of things, if there is a parking curve the front spoiler on my car likes to scrub them. Have a camera backing up so can see when to stop.

Also you are something like 60% more likely to hit someone backing out of a parking spot than backing into one. That is why fleet trunks like AT&T have to always back in. They say when you are backing out you are putting on your seat belt or other tasks as opposed to backing into one where you are already in driving mode.

All valid points. That said, thank Christ backing in is not the norm. I'm sure most of us here could put on a parking clinic, but can you imagine all the wrecks if everyone was expected to back into parking spots?!🤣 Most dumbshits can barely parallel park, forget backing in.

So there is a difference in backing in and backing out?

Also I love watching people try and parallel park...

I back into my garage every time. That way my door is facing toward the middle which gives me more room. Plus it’s much easier to load and upload the back.

First choice is a pull through. If not available, then it depends which vehicle I'm driving. If driving my F250, then yes, I typically back in unless there's either a pull through, or a nice big parking lot that gives enough room to navigate getting in and out. If I'm driving my wife's car, I'll just pull in as normal.

As for the backing in, it has a couple of benefits with a truck. In most trucks, the amount of truck that sticks over the back wheels is greater than the amount that sticks over the front wheels, which will allow you to keep less of your vehicle in the drive lane, assuming that there is a concrete curb in the parking spot.

Also, if you park in a spot and no one is on your sides, then you come out later and have a couple people that have parked on both sides, it's much easier to navigate getting out of the spot if your front end is sticking out.
