Wow thats kind of absurd.I’m well aware of the disconnect between farm & consumer prices. Every time I walk into a grocery & see pecans selling for &15/lb after we scraped through another year selling to the brokerages for $1.50llb Farmers have zero control over what they receive for crops. I currently have right at 25k lbs of nuts at a cleaning/brokerage facility with more on the way & won’t know what we’ll receive for them until the cleaning is through & the shellers & the brokers decide what prices they’ll allow.
Is that the old Browning from ww2? Dang either way.
Have you Pecan Farmers ever thought of organizing and controlling the market yourself.
Now days you have the internet and shipping companies galore.
Just create a website like www.nuttypecanprices.com
Then you sell them direct to consumer for $7.50 a pound 5Xing what you get now and the consumer gets your product for half price.
Give price breaks for larger quantities/orders.
Use Facebook/Instagram adds - mom's that cook live there.
Fuck the middleman.
Also go Buccee's and have all the different flavored pecans.
BTW -
* I want an 1% override on all sales for pulling your crew into the 21st Century.

Only good meat is a problem.
We do have some projects where we sell the cow before killing it. Once the whole cow is sold then it gets chopped up and divided. But besides that there isnt (yet) a good solution for (REAL!!) meat.
Yeah butchers are no joke. Same over here.Priced a cow yesterday. Wanted $3 per lb and the butcher bill was $1800
Looking at $7200 total.
That fucking cow can die and rot in the pasture before I pay that much.
Do you do realize that people will pay you hundreds of dollars to be engagement with the cow alive or dead?Priced a cow yesterday. Wanted $3 per lb and the butcher bill was $1800

$4/pound butchered seems like a pretty good price to me. What do you expect to pay? Is the $3/pound based on it's live weight, or finished weight?Priced a cow yesterday. Wanted $3 per lb and the butcher bill was $1800
