Yes and No, but really No. If that happened, the entirety of the VPN service’s business you’re using will go bankrupt after the media reports it. It’s akin to asking “will the engine fall out of my car if I close the door too hard?” Yeah it can happen, but it would never happen. If you’re using a reputable service that you pay for, you’ll be fine.Question for the computer people or anyone who wants to reply. I don't use a VPN and don't know the in's and out's of how they operate.
If a person in the US uses a VPN and chooses one in England, could that in anyway be traced back to the originating computer? If a person in England uses a VPN not in England can that be traced back to them?
Are those people being abused by their government's crack down on speech able to continue to post memes and other communications using a VPN without being known? Are the spooks in any of these countries capable of breaching the networks (or whatever they're called) and identify individuals or anyone else? I suspect they can.
Good point. Yes the mobile phone throws an entire wrench into the discussion. When I think VPN, I think laptop or tower. But I’m an older Gen X guy, so… Anything requiring VPN, the LAST THING I’d use is my fucking cell phone lol.You would want a VPN IP in a non Five Eyes country. But depending on your use case, your hardware or device ID (mobile) is attached to most any app you post on such as X or Facebook or Instagram regardless of VPN. But also you’d want your VPN to have a no logging policy.
