President Nawrocki is unleashing a conservative earthquake in Poland.

Since August 6, 2025, Karol Nawrocki has already vetoed seven laws and counterattacked with bill proposals. This record-breaking pace has turned the veto into the main weapon of his presidency.

The first strike was the rejection of the so-called “wind farm bill.” The project combined deregulation of turbine investments with a mechanism to freeze energy prices. Nawrocki rejected the entire package, accusing the parliamentary majority of blackmail on behalf of wind lobbyists. At the same time, he proposed his own bill dealing only with energy prices.

Next, the president struck down three laws with a single signature: deregulation of the energy sector, changes to the tax code and fiscal law, and an amendment granting aid to Ukrainian citizens. In practice, this blocked key tools of Tusk’s government in the areas of taxation and migration.

Another veto targeted the plant protection law. Nawrocki argued that the project endangered farmers and opened the door to regulations hostile to domestic production.

The most high-profile veto came with the amendment known as “Lex Kamilek,” a law designed to simplify background checks for people working with children. The president declared that the reform would have lowered standards of child protection.In total, Nawrocki blocked legislation across energy policy, taxation, agriculture, social policy, and child protection in less than one month. Each veto had a direct effect: halting specific government projects and imposing his own interpretation of the national interest.

Nawrocki is clearly positioning himself to become the most powerful president in Poland’s history. His presidency will not be a ceremonial office, but a parallel center of power.
