I think the massive sports salaries like Dak and Mahomes and LeBron etc are akin the book deals for politicians. It’s money laundering. To get one of those deals you have to sign your life away and join the club. Sports are rigged and those athletes with the truly massive contracts are part of the grift. They are threatened into compliance as well. Sports are theater at this point. Maybe if the pharma money dries up, the fake sports go away too. I’d be all for it.
Re: Merit hiring. Maybe the jettison of DEI quotas will translate itself to K-12 schools. If they can learn a football playbook cover to cover in 15 minutes, there is nothing keeping them from learning the 3 R's, except peer pressure, the crutch of DEI and slavery and the administration of schools who themselves are into everything but educating the students. This also means the state regulatory agencies and ISD admins need to back off on their mandates to embrace this societal idiocy education while abandoning learning of the 3 R's.
Re: Miami hotel. Hopefully people insist on a real person at the front desk. I stopped going to businesses which want me to use a kiosk to place an order rather than speaking with a real person. Of course, I know people have caved into using their electronic devices to run their lives.

The owners and others know that people will use their house or car payments to buy overpriced tickets and even more overprised concessions and team jerseys and parking, don't forget the parking, to go see these games. JJones' Cowboys stadium charged $50-60 just to park for a game.

What's most interesting about the special session is the desire by the Lt. Gov to ban all THC gummies, drinks, etc. They were allowed to be sold nationally by the 2019 Farm Bill. In Texas, it's an $8 billion industry which employs 50-60,000 people. Texas is receiving tax revenue, and a lot of it, by allowing these products to be sold, yet, the Lt Gov wants them all banned. A lot of lobby money from the alcohol industry and the neighboring states which have legalized all THC products going into his pocket.
Funny, I didn't know any of this was being sold until a month ago when Abbott vetoed the bill to ban these products. Now, that I know these exist, I see smoke shops, liquor stores, convenience stores, CBD stores and virtually everyone selling this stuff.
