It was a covert operation spanning 3.5 years in order to nab the corrupt people in charge of the Cook County court system. A total of 93 people were indicted, including 17 judges, 48 lawyers, 10 deputy sheriffs, eight policemen, eight court officials, and state representative James DeLeo.
An uncorrupt judge and lawyer went under cover and acted corrupt to accept/ give bribes out for lenient sentences or to get cases tossed. One judge even tossed a murder charge for 10,000 dollars. Rapists and thugs were getting off the hook for hundreds of dollars. Some of the corrupt were caught and cooperated. They even completely staged court cases where the FBI had actors for the victims and perpetrators with the undercover attorney offering the Judge a bribe.
The many layers of the operation went on right under the noses of the very corrupt Cook County authorities for years. By the time they found out they’d been had it was far too late
Now imagine that except trying to catch every deep state agent and their puppet masters within the federal system.
