I paid $4 a semester hour. Once the government got into Pell Grants and other college funding, the universities raised their prices as they knew gov't would rarely investigate these increases. As we've seen unearthed the past 6 months, there was, and still is, nobody checking these requests for payments. They are simply approved without review.
