• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

BREAKING: A cargo ship full of electric vehicles is burning uncontrollably in the Pacific.
Experts say lithium batteries are likely to blame.
The cargo ship carrying 3,000 vehicles, including over 700 electric and hybrid cars, was abandoned in the Pacific Ocean this week after a fire broke out onboard.
The Morning Midas, en route from China to Mexico, began emitting smoke late Tuesday night. Lithium-ion batteries—known for their intense and difficult-to-extinguish fires—are suspected to have contributed to the blaze.
Despite attempts to control the fire, the 22 crew members had to evacuate in lifeboats and were later rescued by a nearby vessel. The ship remains adrift and burning, roughly 300 miles south of Adak, Alaska.
This marks yet another high-profile case of EV-related fires on cargo ships, raising alarms about the transport safety of lithium-powered vehicles.
While EVs are statistically less likely to catch fire, their battery fires can be hotter, harder to extinguish, and more likely to reignite due to thermal runaway. As global demand for electric vehicles surges, shipping incidents like this highlight the urgent need for improved fire mitigation and battery safety protocols at sea. A salvage team is expected to reach the Morning Midas by June 9 to assess the situation.

I live outside of Louisville. There is a mall about 15 miles from house inside Louisville city limits. I haven't gone there in several years. Needed to pick up something for my brother in law and that was the closest/quickest way to get it. That area used to be a really nice middle class white neighborhood with some middlie class black people in a few neighborhoods. Today I did not see one white person except in the store I went to. All the other stores are mexican or south American. All the people on the sidewalk were muslims or fat black women.... Place looked like shit....

just 20 years ago you'd have raised a family there and felt safe. NY giants QB Phil Simms went to HS about 200 yards from that mall. Phil Simms would get mugged there now. Damn shame.
