• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Let the lawsuits begin. I'm in.
It's gonna be interesting when they pass student debt forgiveness.

Pubs likely won't need to sign off due to reconciliation spending so the PR response will be everything. I'll be very disappointed if they don't push to regulate government backed loans and to bring down public education costs.

youve got to separate out the mRNA platforms (Pfizer, Moderna) from the adenovirus vax (J&J).

For mRNA, it’s a risk/benefit game. If you are in the higher risk categories (60+, comorbidities) it is worth considering. Unfortunately the clinical trials barely studied anyone 60+ and it was all young healthy people. There wasn’t a single death from covid in the Pfizer/moderna trials in the placebo or vaccine arm. It does seem to protect from symptomatic disease but unclear how effective the vax is in older populations that need it. Neither vaccine is great from a safety perspective as there are a good number of grade 3 adverse events following the second shot. In very old and frail patients the vax seems pretty dangerous. Norway noted 33 deaths of frail patients following first vaccine dose. There are also some long term concerns about autoimmunity issues with mRNA platforms and these would not manifest immediately. The way the mRNA vax works supports this concern but there really isn’t much known about how these work long term in the real world in large populations . If you are younger And healthy I would stay away from these and if you have any family history or autoimmune disorders it’s worth considering going for the J&J vax if you want a vaccine.

J&J is interesting. I’ve seen a lot of people mention it’s a traditional vaccine — it’s not. It’s an adenovirus platform that delivers DNA for your cells to produce the spike proteins. The adenovirus has been manipulated so that it can’t replicate, but it still shuttles and delivers the DNA cargo to your cells nuclei. The 1-dose safety profile for this vaccine is super clean. Not sure how a 2-dose would look but that study is running right now. Not quite as efficacious as the mRNA vaccines but they studied a different patient population (young and old) and also ran their trials when the virus variants were more prominent. I’m 37 and healthy with no comorbidities. If I was forced to get a vaccine it would be this one but I’m leaning towards no vaccine at this time if I can get away with it. There are also some long term concerns with autoimmune issues with adenovirus platforms but the 1-dose makes me feel a little more comfortable.

My parents are in the high risk category (65+, overweight, etc) and I recommended that they get the mRNA vaccine .

Last thing I’ll say is there is a lot of misinformation out there on both sides of the issue. I’m always a little wary of public health pushes where it seems likely that the top officials would gladly sacrifice small numbers of people for what they perceive to be the greater good of society...

Playing catch up here so sorry if someone has asked already. I know in the beginning there was some "talk" of possible fertility issues down the line with them. Could have been completely made up bullshit for all I know. Anyways, my wife's co-worker is wanting another child and the school has something set up for them all to get it.

Side note, my wife is the only one who isn't getting it as of now.

I stand corrected @America 1st — my two cents— it still won’t pass.
I should have said either Manchin or Sinema.

If Chuckles loses one vote, it won't pass through reconciliation. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening. Dems already caved on breaking the filibuster and $15 minimum wage because it was a non starter for both of them.

Speaking of Herschel Walker I think there is a chance he could run against Warnock in two years for that Senate seat in Georgia
I don’t see him running for governor. I have heard there is a possibility he could come back here and run for that Senate seat

Maybe old news but I heard today for my source very close to the governor of Georgia that he was directly threatened and that very same day his daughters boyfriend got I would call executed. We have some very sick and evil people In our government

This. It's time for a wave of common sense rejection of this idiocy to build public support. So many moderates are sticking their heads in the sand for fear of being called out; the media wants us to believe we're in the minority when we're not.

Between this no-brainer and statewide mask mandates...if the red states (majority) all acted in a short period of time on these two things, it would be a giant middle finger to Biden, left loons, Fauci and DS all at once. It would also awaken normies that the tide of public opinion is not what the media is projecting.

There are a bunch of demented evil people in the world who are for having children mutilate themselves. I put this mindset in the same category as mothers who encourage/pay for their teenage daughters to have boob surgery when their boobs haven't finished growing. Sort of like 20-something guys who still get raging blue-veiner hardons naturally, taking Cialis. Maybe it's the constant exposure to all things sex which has desensitize young men. Of course, I'm an old who as a youngster had a massive hormonal surge just thinking about playing titties with a young, or older, woman. When presented with the opportunity I was fully twitterpated and ready for action...no Cialis needed. Hell, I was ready to go just admiring her ornaments as I picked her up for the date.

Good article to throw in the face of "MaSkS wORk, ItS bAsIc ScIeNcE!!!!" people. They're in full on meltdown in Mississippi
