• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

I want this Puppy. When my oldest son was about 18 months he was hospitalized with a brain fever. They had to put a needle through his skull and relieve the pressure of the fluid around his brain.
They had his hands taped to the bed so he could not move. It was pitiful.
But to save his life it was necessary.
I spend days and nights by his bed. One real bad day, he could not stop crying, and wanting to go home.
I asked him if there was anything he wanted. In between his sobs he got out that he wanted a puppy. Only thing he wanted was a puppy.
He started to calm down as we talked about puppies.
Later he fell asleep, and I went down to the cafeteria for a coffee. As I drank my coffee i was reading the nurses bulletin board. Some Lady had free Puppies.
I called her and explained and she promised him the first pick before anyone else.
Later when I told him, he perked up. Anyway he got better first thing on his way home, I took him to the woman's hoe and he picked his mixed up mongrel hound dog puppy.
He was Heinz 57 All American Hound Dog. He became the best kid's pal ever. My son named him Joey.

This is a real picture I took. Not a meme

Pretty sure they only advertise that in Georgia - the rest of us can count past 10.

Edit - Oklahoma too - they can't seem to get past "Zero" much less "49"
