In a nut shell, the deer in the southeast are smaller. I’m not a biologist but I’d say it’s likely due to the fact we don’t get as cold so they don’t need the weight Midwestern white tail put on. Unfortunately I haven’t had the pleasure of hunting in Texas. I have a few buddies with too much money that bow hunt a large track in west Texas and the deer they are letting walk are monsters for what we see here. Other than people shooting high fenced tracks (there like 3 in the state) they just don’t get that big here.
